The nose was lovely upon opening with lots of fruits. But You can't help but feel this is challenged by the vintage. The palate was quite green and unbalanced.

Decanted for an hour and a half. Not a particularly pleasant nose which wasn't a promising start. Barnyard wouldn't go away. However, a decent clean wine on the palate which came together quite well. Very little bricking which was a bit of a surprise. Decent, but not memorable.

Weekly tasting group RWP #241: DJ's birthday, so a complete surprise. (@ DJ): Beautiful and mature bouquet with good oak cedar and tobacco. On the palate good acidity, chocolate, red berries, chocolate, good acidity and tannin with still a pleasant bite. Overall a beautiful and mature wine. Perfectly ready now. No extreme hurry, but don’t wait much longer.

Meilleure que la précédente (voir note précédente) , très vif, couleur d'une étonnante jeunesse, robe grasse, larmes lentes, sirupeuses... Nez de cèdre, violette, sous-bois (légère), touche de fumée, copeaux de bois. Longueur moyenne, tannins encore présents. Un hit reconfirmé pour ce '93; il y à de quoi lever son chapeau. Bravo ! À boire d'ici 2017. 89.

Belle surprise ! Couleur grenat, aucune trace d'oxydation, une parfaite conservation en caisse n'a pas dû nuire. Arômes de violette, de tomates cerises congites, de parmesan, un peu de sirop pour la toux (!). Margaux dans texture; superbement soyeuse. Un vin impressionnant issu d'un millésime désastreux. Je suis bien content d'avoir acheté une caisse de ce vin ! 88

I drank this wine more than 20 times since released. From beautiful dark clean purple color becomes a clear dark ruby today. ( I just noticed that Bordeaux Grand Cru 1993 is going to be ready at this moment so I have to buy some bottles to test and Cantenac Brown is my choice.)
Nice nose of fine wine and becomes strong lavender scent after 45 mins then hints of animal for a short period, tempting cassis redirect to medical scent. Very interesting !!! Medium-bodied, round and soft tannin, better and more ready to drink than last testing. Finish is good enough for today. Some of the time, only a bottle of fine wine makes me feel so real.
Drink now - 2015..............89++/100.....................

I used to drink the 1993 more than a dozen when released and I never like its taste. At that time, the most beautiful dark purple colour, very seductive oaky scent but typical young-old style, aggressive and not balance at all. Normal dry-finished.
Today, the perfect bottle from my cellar in Zurich, it is nice colour, oaky scent has gone, showing terroir, some fruits, some flowers, good deep and nice clean. Better balance than ever, medium-bodied, smooth. IMO, it's good to drink now.
Aftertaste is nice deep but nothing's special...it's just good, maybe too good at this moment in the room with a view...
One true thing : when Grand Cru Wne is aged and ready to drink, no matter what !!!

ps. If you don't like it when young, try again when it's getting old...fine wine is always fine....find it....
