In my view this is tasting young with plenty of life ahead - certainly fruit and oak rounding out a dark tobacco cab palate. Plenty of tannin and I didn’t feel anything was missing - though there is a touch of heat.
Maybe other tasters are right and it’s on its last legs - but that’s not my impression at all. I think this is halfway there and will be better as the fruit and oak integrate.

4th Saturday group uptown tasting (M&R's): Double blind. Perfumed and bright, with blackberry, cherry and raspberry as well. Dark fruit, spice and plum with a medium+ finish. Starts to show some alcoholic heat as it sits. Guessed Napa cab sauv.

Pnp cold out of the chiller....dark, dark ruby in the glass with a narrow medium ruby edge. Nose is somewhat restrained with a sweet floral/fruit mix (rose petal/violet?) component. Entry is mid weight on the palate, plenty of dark red berries, smooth integrated tannins with a touch of oak, dark chocolate and some mild menthol at the end. There is some acidity left to cover perhaps another 2 years.
An hour in, with the wine warming to room temp.....a little bit of lead pencil/briar emerges, the red fruit darkens a little more and a very faint oxidative dark plum/raisin emerges. A nice wine but not much depth nor many layers there. Just a tad flat.

Couple's Dinner (Jason's House): Decanted at least an hour, drank a small glass over about an hour at a tasting. This bottle seemed to be a serviceable and straight-up cabernet. It did not have much sophistication or complexity. The couple that brought it reported that a previous bottle was a much better showing. Nothing wrong with this, but this bottle didn't deliver on its expectation. 88-89

Saturday Night New World Double Blind, $40+ (Bin 75): Very dark core with garnet rim; green pepper, tobacco, cedar, plum skin, piney, some glycerin, leads with fruit rather than oak; ripe yet good structure, red and black currant, tannic, ash and smoke on the finish, slightly spicy; very good.
