Roundness underlain by acidity, good stoniness but not a lot of slate expression here. Medium weight. Very nice tonight -- drink or hold. It would be a lovely summer match with grilled fish. Cellared since original release.

Black Lion Wine Club - Riesling and 2002 Bordeaux (The Black Lion): The wine is clear and pale lemon in colour. The nose is clean with medium (+) intensity aromas of citrus (lemon zest, lime), green fruit (apple), floral (white blossom), other (mineral, wet stones), hint of tertiary (petrol). The wine is developing. The palate is off-dry with high acidity, medium alcohol, medium (-) body, medium (+) intensity of lemon, lime, apple, white blossom, mineral, petrol. The finish is medium (+). The wine is very good quality. The acidity balances the hint of sweetness and the fruit concentration, there is some emerging complexity. It lacks a little length and concentration to be outstanding. The wine can be drunk now but it suitable for further ageing. It has the acidity and concentration to develop further tertiary characteristics over the next 3-5 years

Double decanted a couple of hours before drinking! Once again this is outstanding! Intense, complex, long and intriguing with great acidity. Slightly more full and fruity feel (not bone dry) than before.

Once again excellent but young. The wine seems to be opening up a little bit more, though, already soon after opening (while a few months ago it took several hours to open up). Really intense and long with loads of salty minerals.

Consistent with my previous note. Unfortunately, however, the bottle was empty just when the wine was starting to open up. Really, make sure you decant or open the bottle at least 5 hours in advance.

A bit of spritz and sulphur right after opening. A few hours later the potential of this wine starts becoming evident. Still a bit shy on the nose, but has a complex smokiness together with some nice green and yellow fruit. On the palate it is intense with a saline minerality a high acidity and a long tingling aftertaste. Very young but very good already. Open several hours in advance or wait a few years. (The score represents my opinion of the wine 5-8 hours after opening. With age the score is likely to increase.)

Very nice mineral-driven wine that was drunk over a few days and didn't seem to budge. Notes of grapefruit, flint and seashells.

Decent nose, heading towards a hint of spiritiness. A very fine wine, undoubtedly. Austere, precise. But not really a style I prefer.

The nose is full if plump pear fruit with a little stinky edge. Good concentration of crunchy green fruit and zippy lime acidity. Good.

Howard Ripley 2012 Grosses Gewächs Tasting (Middle Temple Hall, London): Racy with lovely refreshing acidity. This should drink earlier than some of the other GGs here but doesn't lack stuffing. Good. 16.5/20.

A touch of petrol on the nose, really fruit-driven (lime / grapefruit), very nice and well made, quite linear.
