[Museum Release 1/1/08] Rich dark berries, kirsch, blackforest, savoury leather, mandarin peel, 5spice, juicy. Mocha. Tannins well resolve, soft and silky, opulent, concentrated and yet elegant. An absolute joy and stunner. Long eucalypt finish, black wet earth, smoke and savoury leather. Excellent, wished I had more. Drinking at a great place presently - power yet elegant.

Fully mature but still fresh. Medium-bodied. Raspberry, blackberry, dark cherry. Chocolate and leather. Pleasant, but a little flat on the palate. Lacking in vigour, vivacity, elegance.

Dark core with light brick edge. Nose of spice, cedar, red fruit and eucalyptus. To taste the first impression was fresh red currant fruit with bright acidity, integrated tannins but some heat. Very good but alcohol quite prominent.

Still viable, but certainly over the hill. The tannins are completely broken down and the wine comes across a bit thin. The aromatics are still good, with eucalyptus, chocolate, wet earth and dark cherries. Better with food. Drink now.

Ruby, red. Fresh mint and menthol and cedar complex the nose. Dried red berry/cranberry nose. The palate leads with cedar and berry flavors and a touch of dried orange peel moving into milk chocolate. Very silky in the texture. The acid seems to stay in focus on the layered finish of black tea. Drink up! Paired extremely well with rack of lamb with a caramelized shallot crust.

Rich garnet colour. Softer nose than the 2005 tasted alongside it. Sweet fruits; raspberry and blackcurrant with cloves and a hint of sandalwood. Quite a lean body with good acidity and grippy tannins. More developed secondary flavours on the palate: wood, leather, spicy black pepper and soft sour blackcurrant on the finish. Good.

With a deep purple core, and bricky red edges, this wine shows aged leather, capsicum, earth and white pepper on the nose. The palate is dry and full bodied. It shows baked plum, liquorice and spice characters. Soft tannins on the finish. Good balance. Still has some years left in it!

Overall, I enjoyed this wine. While I would agree it is a bit thin, there are still aromas and flavors of berries and cherries. However, if I would have tasted this blind, I would have never have guessed it to be a shiraz as it tends to taste more like a cab. Very light tannins. Quick finish. Certainly not a disagreeable wine, but, for the price, would expect a little more. Purchased at auction, so I guess I should be happy it was drinkable.

Disappointing, both as there's nothing left and i would have expected this wine to still be viable, and because of what it is now for the original price point paid.

Purchased on release for $30. A spicy shiraz with green flavors of pickling spices and bell pepper. Thin and angular in the mouth, almost emaciated. Disappointing. Drink up.

This was still in great shape.
The body is medium. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Internationals vs. Hungarians - blind tasting with friends: Visible tartrate crystals, it was obvious that this wine wasn't new.
Sweet, sherry-like aroma. Complex and really well balanced taste with an exceptionally long finish.

Eucalyptus, cherry tunes, mulberry, hints of coffee and good tannin. Lost some fruit and power in aging, but still a pleasant Shiraz.

Past it's prime. Black cherry fruit on the finish. Not much of a noise, fruit has faded overall.
