Very good wine. Drank with manchego and similar cheeses. Excellent match. Be aware this vintage is indice 1 (completely dry), which was a surprise to me, as other vintage har been indice 2 or 3.

I love this wine. Big fruit, big complexity, a lot of spice - with some age it is now starting to balance beautifully - everything is starting to integrate - will hold for years to come but starting to peak.

Yellow colour. Nose with yellow apples, ripe pears and other ripe fruit, quite a lot of smokey notes, some dried and cooked fruit, a hint of honey, and a bit of musk. Dry but fruity palate (indice 1 on Z-H's scale 1-5), good concentration of fruit, noticeable alcohol, medium acidity, stony minerality, some spice notes, and a fruity aftertaste with some alcohol. Many Z-H wines can "hide" quite high levels of alcohol due to their often excellent concentration of fruit, but in this case the 15.5% definitely comes through, so this is unfortunately not fully balanced. 87 p.
While fully dry Alsace PGs can be excellent food wines, in this case I can't help but think that it had been better to stop at 15% and let it be slightly off-dry at indice 2, since that would probably have helped to mask the alcohol content.

Zind Humbrecht Tasting (Cucina Povera): Clear pale lemon color. Clean, mid intensity, round in the nose, easy going, ripe fruits, a bit shy, alcool and pears, youthful. Off dry, medium+ body, medium/medium+ intensity, high alcohol (15.50%), and acidity, ripe fruits with pear and pineapple more obvious, unbalanced due to high alcohol, biscuit and smoke in the medium+ finish. Very good quality, premium price, just too much alcohol for me.

Much the same impression as in March; quite impressive nose and a powerful wine, but a bit too much alcohol for full balance. 88 p-

Rich, ripe. Totally different than the rest of the line. Full and almost flamboyant, a little petrol and spice. Some funk. Interesting.

Harry Hadzidakis Presents Zind-Humbrecht (La Cucina Povera Reastaurant, Athens, Greece.): Shy nose with green apple, pear, Alsatian herbs (rubarbe). Full-bodied with noticeable alcohol (15.5%) and sweetness, oily-textured with balancing acidity and a long aftertaste.
