Wine Tasting Group - Winemaker Decisions - June 8, 2019 (Julie's home): L8149T - Prosecco made by Charmat method - secondary fermentation for bubbles occur in large pressurized stainless steel tanks (rather than in bottle as in traditional Champagne method) often with a little residual sugar left. Mild yeasty/brioche aromas with citrus and tart apples. The palate is more mellow with ripe apples, mild bread/brioche flavors. Nice bubbles add a welcome texture to the wine. Relatively simple but very gulpable.

Brought this wine to a wine dinner with a group of wine mates' at Chin Lee Restaurant. Theme of the evening: indigenous Italian grapes.
Bubbly with a clear body; the dryness of the wine is somewhat startling; refreshing with notes of white stone fruits. Clean, crisp with a creamy texture.
A causal wine best served as an aperitif; although it can be paired as a starter with appetisers.

MNB: Tank-method sparkling wines (Home (Noe st)): (non-blind - my wine) Pale straw color. No autolysis but rich green apple. Slight white peach (slightly terpenic) Weaker mousse - maybe 2-3 atm, not 5-6 (Champagne) Feels around 10g RS (actually Extra-Dry - 12-17g), 12% alcohol, medium plus acid, mild bitterness. Green apple skin finish with a hint of dough.
A little coarse, but ok at the price point (~$19)

Tim's birthday (Tim's, SF): Pale yellow color. Medium intensity aromas of apples and slight peach. No notable autolysis. Sweet - 15-20g. Medium body. Diminished alcohol (11%), medium plus acid. Slight bitterness. Short finish.

Served well-chilled - 6c/43f, 11.0% abv, D.O.C.G. designation (vs D.O.C.) to accompany hors d'oeuvres celebrating guests.
I brought a case back from NYC as there is no distributor for Sorelle Bronca in Washington (however some out-of-area retailers do ship to DC). I am well-acquainted with this Prosecco. For some reason I was a little disappointed in the first bottle I opened from the case, maybe the serving temperature was a little off (or maybe I was a little 'off'), but the second bottle I opened was exactly as I remembered; Right back in the 90 point range. Crisp, tiny-bubbles, and very Refreshing, especially on a warm summer afternoon. There are notes of Apples and Pear on the palate and a pleasant, clean finish.
A good value at about $17, this is rapidly becoming my 'Go-To' Prosecco.

Restaurant purchase. (Osso Rest, San Francisco, $39 vs $17 retail; 11.0% abv) Lovely Pale color and nice effervescence with a nose of green apples. Crisp and minerally, with clean taste of apples, pear and melon. Appropriately dry without being overly tart. Smooth and well-rounded on the tongue. Nicely balanced acidity with a crisp, medium finish. Excellent just on its own or paired with food. Extra Dry has a just a hint more sweetness than Brut, and seems to be the more preferred style for drinking Prosecco. Would & have repeated.
Edit: The more I sample other Prosecco's, the more I appreciate Sorelle Bronca. One big difference is the DOCG is on the other side of the road from the DOC flatlands; you know, the hilly side where soil and drainage are better and harvesting is more labor-intensive. (ok, I may have made some of that up; But have come to learn it's mostly True!) The extra cost for DOCG, is worth it over lesser Proseccos! Not widely distributed in the US, I enjoy Sorrelle Bronca whenever I can find it.

2014 Birthday Wine Dinner (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck, Asia Square): This bottle is from a friend who import Sorell Bronca to Singapore. Very refreshing aroma, plenty of fruits here, apricot, peach with touch of floral. Simple and clean with nice fruitiness showing slight off-dry palate. Although it lacks some mid-palate and finishing, but it is pretty good as a Prosecco to be drunk casually with friends anytime with or without food.

Either the reviews from years back mean the quality of the production wine has increased year to year or those below are drinking something different from this. Wonderful acidity frames nice apple and melon flavors, lots of minerality. Dry, with lots of fruit. Wonderful with food.

While I don't have specific notes since we were on a cruise and just enjoying life, I don't feel as negative about this as others. I do remember stating what a pleasant wine this was, not too dry, balanced, fruity and just a nice glass.

The most aromatic prosecco I've had, with lovely melon and apple aromas. Perhaps a hint too sweet but good acid keeps it from being flabby. Very Good+.

Feels much more integrated and classy than the bottle I tasted in 2009, based on my notes. Same clean lemon and lemon-blossom aromas and flavors, but the bead is quite small, which makes for a fun, frothy Prosecco that is good enough to be had on its own as opposed to mixing into Bellinis. Favorably impressed this time around.

I'm always stunned by this sparkler. Very fine mousse. White flower, apple and pear on the nose. Mid-palate and finish is always characterized by luscious valencia orange. Crisp. My go-to sub-$20 sparkler.

Consistent with prior review - Very light color - almost clear. Orange blossoms, and green apple/pear on the nose. On the palate green apple/pear with nice minerality. Clean, refreshing off dry style. Nice mousse in the mouth. Paired with a spicy Garlicky Shrimp Pasta - very nice!

Clean, bright Prosecco. Very pale in color, with aromas of lemon and lemon blossom. Medium to large bead. Lemon juice flavors, with a touch of pink grapefruit. Not the best QPR at $17 for a simple Prosecco, but very enjoyable.

Color is quite clear, good supply of (large) bubbles. Very nice bitter-sweet proosecco palate with refreshing acidity. Very enjoyable. Super hot weather sipper, and the fact that it only has 11% alcohol is also a hot-weather plus. Stick it in the freezer until it almost turns to slush.

Pale straw-colored in the Glass, Sorelle Bronca has citrus on the nose, is Bright and Refreshing, with a slightly-bitter, mineral aftertaste.
I brought a case back from NYC (not available in Wash, DC) because of prior favorable impression and expect to supplement tasting note as consumed.
