Bright acidity on this wine -- nice for a fairly big California Chardonnay. Bright but clean fruit, subtle oak, some lemon and tree fruit in the flavors. Very good.

P n P. Rich, oakey Californian Chardonnay. Needs more time--maybe a year or two to soften the oak bite. For now, only very good, but I can imagine this improving. Hold.

Slow o'd for an hour, and followed a small glass over about 1.5 hours. I liked that this wine showed some restraint - for a Ramey. Great balance of fruit, oak, acidity and minerality. It does drink like a sunshine state Chardonnay, and yet remains well balanced. Butterscotch on the mid-palate followed by a lot of acid on the finish. It's interesting that I've enjoyed the 2008 and 2011 RRV's more than the supposed "good" years.

Folks, what do you think might be the end of the drinking window for the half bottle? I'd like to accurately label it now for quick future reference in my bodega. Average end of drinking window of all vintages through 2012 is six years, i.e. 2017. But that's for the full bottle. Perhaps I should drink up this year? Thanks!
Bright, rich, silky Chardonnay with oak complexity layered on deep fruit. Oak was a bit strong at this point; could use a couple more years, but good now as well.

Decent chardonnay. I think most California in style of the Ramey wines. Big acidity, oak, vanilla with decent finish. In the end I didn't think it was anything special.

Big rich chard nose has baked apple, tropical notes, and flinty mineral. Palate is full bodied with rich fruit but mouth puckering acidity to provide tension and balance. Nice textural layers between the round fruit and cutting acidity. Flavor complexity too with primary fruit, citrus and wet rocks. Long flavor filled finish. This is a great value and example of a forward and rich, yet balanced RRV chard. Certainly delicious now and unlikely to get markedly better.

This wine is coming into its own now but will still evolve for years. I can't keep my hands off it though. My opinion, I think Ramey uses oak in the most graceful way.

More lactic than the sonoma coast, with a richer palate as well. Still very crisp and clean on the palate. Dutton and Rochioli fruit here, and momre tropical flavors there for. And some of the Woolsey Road Vineyard. Great Chardonnay at $40 or so.

Pale green-gold, medium body, Oak, honey melon, pineapple, wet slate Full bodied white, medium+ finish, nuttiness, malic-acid is very present. New World white.
Not quite my style, but hits the spot with the potato crusted trout
Good food pairing wine.

Ramey Tasting (Bin 75): Pale yellow green; brighter, acid, butterscotch, lemon, green apple, butter; larger, structured, acidic blast and good body to support, sweet tart fruit on the finish; good.

First impression is that it brought back an early childhood memory of licking a stick of margarine. Lots of body and butter with some decent acidity. Fruit is there but not the main show.
Not going to rate this one as it is clearly not my preferred style of wine.

Very pretty nose of ripe apple and pear, noticeable oak. Well balanced with good crisp acidity and a nice light mouthfeel. This is young and needs a little time to integrate and fill out. Ok now will be better in a year.

Winery tasting. Lighter bodied, medium straw color. Made using malolactic fermentation.Aromas and flavors of crisp, spicy apple, and butter. Slightly richer than the Sonoma Coast bottling, but still relatively lean given the cooler vintage, Good balance and nice mouthfeel that leads to a long satisfying finish

Rich buttery Chardonnay. Great depth of flavour and persistency. Just felt a little flabby after 2nd glass.

Did not meet my expectations. Some decent flavor profiles & good nose but overall seemed a bit disjointed and all over the place.

Honeydew melon, citrus and bananna notes lead to lighter style of early drinking Chardonnay that ends with a light citrus finish.
