Still quite fruity and fresh but has acquired a smooth full flavor of sophistication and increased balance. A few years on this wine seems quite lovely

Delightful, rich, fragrant ! bouquet is of alcohol, berries, vanilla, and spices; medium full bodied and delicious; black fruit, moderate tannins with a very clean finish ! I think this is drinkable through 2022-23
Excellent experience with vintage 2012 of house Seghesios "Old vine" zinfandel. Ripe black fruits with a un-zinfandel-like fresh acidity to balance the generous fruit sweetness. Oak and alcohol is not too dominating as in other Zins and tannins smooth providing an pleasant easy-going wine experience that most will appreciate. Long finish. Had with goulash which was a good pairing but I suspect this wine will pair with most foods that do not contain too ample acidity.

Very fruit forward with a fair amount of acid and smooth tannin. Very good now, but I think this will be more interesting to drink with a bit more aging. Try again in 2022.

Nice nose, a little too much tannin when I drank right after opening. Didn't pour second glass for about 90 minutes and let sit in galss for 5-10 minutes. The change in taste was dramatic - hence the 92

Smoothe. Saline. Green tannin- kinda perplexing, a little backwards. I think this has a bunch of time left. Tannins are silty and soft, not too much fruit to speak of, Lots of boysenberry on the nose, herbaceous, and woody. I like it. Seems to want food, fatty food. Not that jammy modern day zinfandel of the early 2000's but that's a good thing. I think this has a few years more to come together, or the green might whelm the fruit/body.

PnP and drank over 3 hours. The fruit has really decayed and this wine was quite flat. My recent experience with other similarly aged Seghesio Zins leads me to believe that these wines are best enjoyed within the first 2 or 3 years when the fruit is still vibrant enough to cover the alcohol.

strong fruit of berry and pepper at the front end - too much to make this as good a wine as it could be. Finished smoothly with nice lingering taste. well balanced. I will save my one remaining bottle for several years. I had a small amount left over and drank 2 days later, the front end berry lessened and was definitely improved. Will consider decanting for several hours on my other Seghesio Zins.

39th Annual Zinfandel Retrospective - the 2012s (R&D's): Reticent at first; muddled red fruit notes. Flavors of cherry, raspberry and spice. Becomes perfumed and flroal, with red fruit, raspberry and spice underneath. Good tannins and flavors of raspberry and pepper. Briary through the finish. Balanced. Long finish. At times almost "juicy."
Did a side by side of 4 2012 Zinfandels from Sonoma: Seghesio Old Vine, Monte Rosso, and Cortina plus Mazzocco Smith Orchard Reserve. Alll were escellent(above 90): the Cortina was on the light side and the Old Vine was much stronger and the Monte Rosso was in between with more subtleties, tobacco mushroom. The Mazzocco was the strongest of the four to the extent of being over powering and considered the least favorite.

Bright red color. Baking spice and clove on the nose. Red fruits, peppery. More of a finesse zin than the full bodied spicier versions I am used to...maybe the vintage as I have had good version of the Old Vine before, thise one was OK but lacked real substance. This wasn't a typical Zin. On the first night, it was a hot- mess. Flavored all over the place, with a very unpleasant spicy heat at the end. I ended up dumping most of the glass that I poured. I refrigerated the bottle and gave it a second try on day 2. It was a way different wine . The heat was gone. It was much more subdued and was drinkable. Not sure that I would go so far as to say enjoyable . I was going to be very upset though if I had to dump out a Seghesio wine! Finished it, but likely won't purchase again.

This zin has a nice pepper and spice. It started with a odd flavor on the finish which seemed to dissipate after being opened for an hour. The wine is quite dry, with good dark fruit that complements the pepper and spice. The wine keeps improving with time, probably should have decanted the bottle, though we did pour into our glasses and let it sit for 30 minutes before tasting.

Deep red with violet hues. Very fragrant with appealing chocolate, green leaves, and mint notes. Same on the palate, with cherry, driven by ample acidity, and appropriate alcohol (14.8%). Moderate chocolate finish.

Dark ruby core. Raspberry and oak on the note, with an inky, volatile component. Dry, with good acidity, a pat of buttery oak, and a wash of soft tannins both upfront and on the finish. Good acidity, with loads of bright, ripe fruit (dark cherry, raspberry and fresh plum). Excellent now, but certainly has all the right stuff to improve within the next 2-3 years - just enough time for the oak and tannins to further integrate.
