Was a little concerned that this may have cellared too long. Popped it on a warm evening and was happily surprised with the results. Golden straw in color, viscous in the glass with a nose of dandelion and ripe pear. Overall a pleasant surprise and easy on the pallate.

Clear bright straw color. Ripe pear and a little green apple on the nose. Same plus a little tropical note on the palate, maybe passionfruit. A hint of citrus. Sweet with some tartness/acidity. Finish is long, but a little rough and off balanced on the tail end. Might be past its prime. Still a lively unoaked chardonnay.

Served with chicken kiev, roast cauliflower, salad. Clear light yellow/gold. Citrus nose (grapefruit), peach, and pear. Fruit nose follows through to the palate, nice acid, medium weight, smooth and well balanced. Still lively.

Color: Deep golden hues. Nose: Tropical fruits - pineapple and mango - that are on the verge of over-ripeness. Much must. Flavor: Sickly sweet tropical flavors on the front. Not much character to this bottle - a bit of acidity at the end and the flavors fall off after 15 seconds or so.
Very oxidized bottle. A tale tell sign is when a white has a deep golden hue, as described in the "color" section. This bottle is also 4 years old, so would probably be much better right now if it's a '14 vintage.
If this wine is in your cellar, drink now before it goes bad.

Surprisingly buttery for being unoaked. This is slightly sweet with lemon curd and pineapple. Silky with good acid. After quaffing four bottles over time, and with a variety of Chardonnay-friendly food pairings, we're settling on a 91 score.

Really like this. Not your typical CA Chardonnay. Interesting bouquet, smooth, buttery flavor but definitely not oaked at all. Lives up to its label. The grey ceramic bottle looks gimmicky but is cool.

Drank a glass at Village Tavern. Straw colored, heavy legs. Came too chilled, icy cold. First sip tasted like beer. Warmed it with hands. Flavors of grapefruit and minerality emerged. Like tart pineapple. Long finish reminiscent of chalkiness. Would not purchase a bottle. A bit too much citrus.

Citrus Fruit and high Acid but mellows out after a little while in the glass. Nice Chardonnay, but didn't wow me. For $20, I'm satisfied, but not the best QPR for a $20.

Actually was a 2011. Served with Chicken, salad, and green beans. Nice clear yellow, maybe a touch of chlorophyll in the palate. Nose is peach with perhaps a touch of pear. Smooth, medium weight, a touch of acid keep things crisp.

Very light yellow in color. Nose is airy with very light hints of stone fruit. Light crisp start that is tropical. Finish is medium and tastes of tart peach. Great summer drinker. Paired well with one of my spicier salmon dishes. Probably in 91 range if nose had more definition.

First, I prefer unoaked Chardonnay so I start off positive. Overall, I would agree with most of the comments - especially crisp, hints of apple and other tart fruits. This will be our go-to summer sit on the deck wine. Smooth finish, refreshing, and very enjoyable. At around $20 the decision is easy. This isn't going to cellar for long, so I will plan for a regular annual purchase.

Pop and pour and consumed over 2 hours. This has become a go-to unoaked chard for me. Clean, crisp, bright flavors of apple, young apricot, tart white pear, lemongrass and great balance with a medium finish. Great wine, good QPR. 88-90

Grilled out some BBQ Chicken and Artichokes with olive oil and a mayonnaise, lime, and grated garlic dip. Also had some citrus cous cous, and decided to open an oaked and unoaked Chardonnay to see how they paired with the meal. Chose 2012 Mer Soleil Unoaked Silver and Frank Family’s Lewis Vineyard Reserve Chard for the meal. Expected the Mer Soleil to pair well with the Cous Cous but also the Frank Family to pair well with the artichoke and maybe the chicken.
LOVED the Frank Family with the artichoke. With a bite of the artichoke dipped in the creamy sauce, the viscosity of the oaked chardonnay filled the mouth and paired wonderfully. Couldn’t get enough!
The Mer Soleil is very crisp and acidic, but not overly tart. Well chilled, it feels almost effervescent in the mouth. This was the last bottle of six that we purchased at Caymus, and we have enjoyed them thoroughly, but the pairing tonight was not the best. With a sip of wine and a bite of Cous Cous, the Mer Soleil overpowered. Still, good on its own and nice and refreshing on a warm day.

More weight than the last Silver I recall tasting, but more residual sugar and lower acid. Poured a glass to drink before dinner and found it too heavy to drink.
