Very mature. Ready on PnP with classic leather, cassis, cedar, black olive. Drank very, very nicely night one, but suffered considerable fall off on night two remains. Drink.

This shows a disappointing amount of brettanomyces, masking otherwise nice raspberry, cedar, ginger, and smoky notes. When some of the brett finally blows off around hour 3, the wine is mineral focused and sanguine. Very rustic; if the brett were not there I imagine this would have been quite nice indeed. Even if you like some brett, this is annoying and interferes with finding out what's actually there.

Wow, really good bottle! Almost 10 years since I last tried this. Medium bodied, red currant, strawberries, a hint of cedar and creme brûlée. Very long finish. Very elegant, mature, but still vibrant! Delightful claret.

Light elegant fruit combined with nice acidity, dried figs, syrup, with time in the glass the wines develops flavours of blueberries and inky tones, slight cedar typical of a St Julien. This good chateau should not be forgotten by bdx lovers.

Brought by Otis to dinner. Excellent bordeaux vintage. This is a 4th growth wine. The only other Saint-Pierre that I've had is the 2000 twice and I liked this 1990 better. Not decanted. Silky tannins. A little mustiness on the nose. Notes of cedar and underbrush. 88 points.

Dinner @ R&Y: Blind. This has a very clean and elegant nose, clearly cabernet dominated, I'd guess left bank but no idea where. After a lot of wild guessing Ray revealed this as a St Julien - slightly surprised as I didn't get any of the cedarwood aromas I usually associate with St J. This is ready but will hold for years - very elegant and correct, proper wine. Nicely mineral and refreshing with impeccable poise, and a bright finish. Lovely ****1/2

Best bottle I've had of this yet, unfortunately my last one also. Vibrant ruby red color with some orange at the rim. Pleasant aromas of fruitcake, cedar, and allspice. Tastes of ripe cabernet with hints of tobacco and spices. Long, rich and sweet, tannins are melted away, nice finish. Almost like a Cali cab. Fantastic wine but maybe a bit too sweet and it does lack complexity.

A wine that is just approaching maturity. Modest nose with a bit of cedar and hint of tar, soft St Julien fruit showing. To taste, a reasonably good wine, medium bodied, balanced mature fruit but a bit lacking in substance in the context of this ripe vintage.

A big, smoky nose with black plums and secondary aromas of mushrooms and earth. It's surprisingly thin considering the abundant fruit on the nose although not diluted by any means. Decent finish with a noticeable, although not searing, acidity. Overall, it's a pretty nice wine. I just couldn't help but feel that it was more fun to drink a couple of years ago when the fruit was more lively. It's like watching Burt Reynolds now instead of in the Smokey and the Bandit years. Drink up.

Lovely mature claret still holding a charming amount of fruit and a gentle but balanced finish. Really enjoyed this bottle.
