Delicious tonight. Good fill in the bottle, saturated cork. Bricking in the glass, but pure in color and clarity. Little to no tannins, and just fresh to cooked red fruit. In a wonderful spot - delicate, pure, and fresh. A really fun experience tonight. Drink up and enjoy.

On it’s last legs, but what a wine. Pale red, like old pinot. The nose is tremendously perfumed and aromatic. Roses, cedar, sweet red fruit. Really elegant. Tannins still there. Decent acidity. Aftertaste is ok. Impressive and enjoyable wine.

I continue to love this wine - very similar to my last note - mature Bordeaux fruit nose with abundant complex aromas of white flowers, tea leaves, tobacco, and leather - round and full bodied St. Julien sweetness in the mouth - tannins still very much in evidence, but they do not predominate - medium length 20 second finish - remains a very enjoyable wine that shows how much fruit lies beneath the ample tannins of the 75s - for those who would say this wine is "too old", I would say maybe they don't appreciate the beauty of a fully mature Bordeaux

Interesting example of simply a way too old Bordeaux. Cork was in horrible shape and quite a bit of it simply disintegrated into the wine so the wine was filtered. Very musty nose with tons of barnyard and once that cleared there was a very dark nose with little fruit left and a hint of sharpness that did not bode well for the wine but it turned out to not be corked or oxidized, simply very tired and way too old with no fruit nor much of anything else left either.

I bought 7 from Top Wines for £332, I don’t have the purchase date - likely 2006-9.
I must have cellared them for a decade and been trying them over that period of time. Tonight, having two left, I tried one on a friend blind.
Pre-taste: held up to light in bttl, brick red - but that’s deceptive. It’s actually quite dense and murky in the glass tho I didn’t follow normal decanting protocol….
First taste, not decanted: too young! Then… the wine goes through a beautiful fast-forward display of its wares: the nose is always more impressive than the length, but there is everything there : fruit - late brambles - subtle cedar (but not much smoke if that’s your thing), and astonishingly both of us got a wave of vanilla at exactly the same time - about 90 mins from opening - as the wine developed.
In all, this bottle is was no faded, broken old claret. This was a beautiful, fully-mature that you should stand upright for 24h, open, decant for 1h pre-food and then go.
Note: this was by far the best of the 6 bottle I’ve opened. I’ve one left, that I’d initially planned to auction in a vertical 6, with other Branaires. But .. it was so extraordinary I don’t know if I can sell it.
Magnificent 7 .. hmmm M

Just so slightly corked, that the wine is still drinkable, but does not give much pleasure. A pity, because of what was there to taste, it looked very promising.

Fully developed, medium bodied with loads of cedar, forest floor, tobacco, cigar wrapper and spicy red fruits. Fully mature, but not as rustic as you would think, given the vintage, this was still holding on to its charm.

badly crumbled cork, but wine inside was sound - brick red with an orange rim - appealing complex nose of tea leaves and light leather - by itself a light body and tannins slightly predominated over the fruit - but with food (lamb) it developed a beautifully rounded mouth-filling body with a hint of sweetness - in either case, the finish was relatively short - probably has seen better days, but very enjoyable now and one of the better 75s in term of fruit/tannin balance - this bottle was what one should hope for from an excellent 40+ year-old St. Julien!

PnP. Hel kork kom ut. Nesten gjennomtrukket. Nydelig farge, lys rubinrød med antydning til brun i kanten. Tobakksblader, skogbunn, lær og plommer. Syrlig i munnen, men fullt ut tilgjengelige tanniner. Minnet om en Pinot i munnen pga rips. Drakk pent over 4-5 timer uten å fade. Ingen jern/rust i finish, men noe rustikk. Flott til to vininteresserte 75-modeller som delte flaska.

Drank this wine almost 20 years ago from a different source and to my surprise not that much has changed since then, except for loosing some fruit. Doesn't taste like a 35y+, not a real pleasure anymore though. Still a solid Branaire and good to drink. 90 minus 2

Tasted in double blind tasting with 10 wine buddies.Decanted one hour beforehand. Looked older than it tasted. Some guessed Burgundy. Surprising amount of fruit but I don't think it will last too much longer. Bordeaux quality came through as time went by.

Tasted blind. Quite translucent and clearly aged. Initially guessed it was a Burgundy from the elegance or a Rhone from the barnyardy nose. But shortly the Bordeaux character emerged at the finish. Some plums and generally a classic claret but probably on its last legs now. Drink up.

Martin Weiner's Magnificent Ch. Latours (1934-2002) Plus the Best of ths Grand Cru Neighbors (Martin Weiner): From a magnum. Brown tint to the wine giving a muddy garnet appearance, wide rim with a very old appearance. Nose was restrained in intensity, but very nice in complexity: earth tones, dry leaves, dried cherries. Taste was smooth but a little restrained with red berry fruits. The finish was medium to long in length. Tannins have been consumed, but the balance is nice and it showed very well.

What a surprise, fully soaked cork, brown edged wine, shiny dark red in the glass with power and fruit. Aged character and delicious flavor. Restrained pleasant nose of black current. Balanced tannins with plenty of berry flavor made for exceptionally integrated wine. Thought it would be over the hill but, a stylish delight instead.

Nice red color - slighty lighter than I had anticipated. The nose is quite sweet with strawberries and some oakiness. The taste is very lean but correct. High acidity, granular tannins and not very charming to be honest. I had hoped for more.

19th Wedding Anniversary Dinner. Poured from magnum. Rich, dusty, fruity, fragrant bouquet, big, rich, fruity taste, did not match the lamb as well as the other wines, long finish with enough acid and tannins to suggest cellaring for 2 more years, My favorite red wine of the night.

With MPL at Singer & Foy survey of '70s Clarets. Good ruby color. Pleasant nose. Fruity, but faint. On the palate, very dry, woody, and somewhat sour in the finish. Not really good. 5-10-10-4: 79/100.

Bordeaux 1975 ten years after the harvest; tasted blind, only the vintage was known: very red, not so deep, lots of wood, bid wild, not refined, meaty, juicy, very firm, so a lot to taste. The aftertaste has only medium length.
