A little band-aid on the nose but there’s lovely aromatics of tobacco leaf and green herbal notes. Palate is crisp, fine, ans a bit of spice coming out as the leather, tobacco and herbal notes repeat on the finish. Quite nice. In a good spot.

From memory, darker than most CF we drink, fully ripe with just a pleasant hint of greenness, fully mature but still vibrant, delicious with lamb chops.

Fascinating, enveloping, and different in profile from almost anything else we drink. Like a sanguine cushion of candy cane with wild weeds, dried herbs, and spice. One of those incredible wines that risks disagreeability. A quick decant does wonders.

Breton Bourgueil Perrières Vertical (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Nicely intense with sappy fruit and plenty of vegetal verve. Hints of roasted meats. The body here is held in the thinnest, most transparent sensory casing of peppermint candy cane. Long and exciting. Likely to hold or even improve for a couple of years. Drink now-2023.

TTTG (Loire blind tasting): Immediately won me over and easily the wine of the night. Rich nose with ripe red fruit, herbs, green peppers, and just a bit of earth and funk. Very sappy, with a long finish. Yum!

Fantastic bottle of Cab Franc. A bit more funk and brett here than I typically expect from Breton, but the fruit flavours still come across remarkably bright and fresh, and it's a wonderful wine to sit down with. An array of fresh dark berried fruit, more savoury earth and herbal notes, and some more developed leathery and funky notes on the nose all coming together seamlessly on a graceful, medium weight frame. The tannins seem fairly light and mostly integrated into the wine, and a lot of the structure here seems to come from the lively acidity. Good length, and it's a wine I kept returning to throughout the tasting.

beautiful. demands to be consumed in small sips, which unfold as they wash around the mouth. a big sip and all the detail is lost to the slightly gritty finish.

solid bottle but not extraordinary. decent mouthfeel and length to the wine but w only ok texture and wine lacked a more complex flavor profile. Secondary flavors were basically absent. 93 bottle of this wine consumed recently sang with flavors of earth, funk, smoke, etc.

Decanted about 1 1/2 hours. Still quite a bit of red fruit on the nose, mixed with some green vegetables, a hint of spice, and some earth at the end. Soft on the palate, with loads of green vegetables and some cherry and raspberry underneath. The mid-palate and a little spice, and it finished with some dirt and wet leaves.

This wine took some time to open up, and didn't give up too much when it did. Stemmy red fruit and gravel, with a somewhat fresh, if watery, texture. The tannins eventually gained some heft, and some apple skins appeared by the second night. Maybe it was unrealistic, but I expected a bit more energy from this.

First varietal of the day. Missing the expected vegetal component. Fresh. Surprised by the tartness. Still, it's good.

Still tightly wound and earthy. Opened some but seed like the vintage had less to offer. Still good but would be curious to try in 10 years.
