Tasted next to 2012 Vincent Paris La Geynale. Less smoky on the nose - notes of dark fruit, herbs, spices, dark flowers, raw meat. On the palate more elegant despite noticeable tannins. Well integrated acidity, generous fruit, great minerality. Long and intense finish, very harmonious. Drink or keep. 93-95

Dark and glossy. A bit of oak on the nose, at times a hint of brett. Dark fruit, spices, cloves, smoked meat. On the palate lots of friuit, ripe but noticeable tannins, good acidity. Approachable, but likely better to keep for another couple of years. Very long. 93-95

By the glass at Oinoscent Athens. The bottle was opened a day before so one needs to adjust ( true TN below by kostaslonis). Asked to opine on the flaw here. The wine did not feel corked but also had nothing to show especially given pedigree. Was flat and muted and this can only be to our mind a prolong TCA impact. as we say in Greek " Krima"

Alain Voge 2012 tasting *failed* - Tasting Ground (oinoscent): This bottle was (for me) corked as well. The wine shows low intenstity with very confusing, damp character. In the palate, the wine shows medium to full body, there are tannins (although less aggreessive than expected), earth, smoke and fire everywhere, it feels warm, the fruit is overripe black cherry, prunes and even dates/raisin, the finish is short to medium. It doesn't have the typical cork taint, but everything feels muted to almost a numb state. Damn damn

A modern style of Cornas but I've had good experience aging this wine and this vintage certainly needs lots more time. Ripe blackberry fruit with potent acidity and lots of tannic grip. Finishes with dusty tannins and great smoky notes. Good material here for the future. 92+

Syrah monster. I always love the wines from Northern Rhône in the winter. Masculine, powerful yet refined. Bold with fine but present tannins interwoven with thick blackberry fruits and white pepper. Delicious. Double decant and slow oxed for 4hrs. Awesome.

Joyous wine. While its already drinking extremely well, for those who like more secondary and tertiary notes, be patient. Highly recommend. Perfect balance and clean and precise. One of those wines which hits the spot when you are looking for a good Syrah and this is it, no faffing about.

24 Oct 2019, 6:19pm Lots of sediment cakes to the side of the bottle where is rested. Initial nose of big time vanilla with concentrated blackberry. That oak was a huge turnoff. Such a contrast to the Clape. Why? Palate of sweet oaky vanilla with licorice. Has a uique flavor of something delish, maybe an exotic pastery? Can’t quite place it. Theres a lingering spice and purity of juice that is excellent, but Mazoyer, why that new oak, why!? Ah, it’s coconut. That’s the taste. It’s coconut. It tastes like a sweet Hawaiian confectionary. There’s a lingering bitter oak tannin that coats the palate reminding me of a coconut, backberry flavored cigar. I’m kinda liking it more and more, but compared to Clape, it’s just ug.
6:52pm Concentrated, like candy, big flavor of violets and spices. Oak is still there. It’s like a black smoke taint, that doesn’t belong, but lends a cigar flavor.
Coconut, then acetate and a touch of brett.

Monumental effort. Berry flavors of all sorts, with vanilla , pepper, tar and smoke. Very concentrated . Cornas for sure but on the modern side. If you like Syrah you will love this wine.

Powerful and yet Ethereal. This is the best bottling from Voge that I’ve ever had. Rocking nose and incredibly long finish with all the goodness you would expect from a classic Cornas. You have never had Syrah, until you’ve tried this wine.

Yet Another Wine Group: Cote Rotie & Cornas: Masses of sweet vanilla on the nose. Christmas cake aromas with caramel, white pepper. Many new oak characteristics on the palate also. The Cornas characteristic is there but masked by the makeup of the oak. This seemed completely out of place in this lineup and while the quality is evident I don't like this at all. I felt annoyed drinking this.
Tasted over two days. Oh my p'n'p gorgeous nose of blueberries and smoke, the palate coating you with forest berries galore and some vanilla, high viscosity. On day two the nose was very shy and the palate was dominated by sweet fruit but still very high viscosity. It performed like a north american rhone blend from a warm vintage. First time I've experienced this in a Cornas wine. 97 points on day 1 and down to 93 on day two, curious to see how my remaining botles will fare.

What a tremendous wine... For me this was the winner of the red part of our tasting.. Succulent, juicy, complex, concentrated, great definition, silky tannines, quite modern in fact. Wow.

Game dinner with friends Champagne and Northern Rhône: Very dark purple color. In the bouquet dark forest fruits, cherries and leather. On the palate powerful and juicy berry fruits. A bit rustic. A mouth full of concentrated and compact wine with an enormous future. Good and juicy acidity and round tannin which can probably last for at least another 10 years. 95++ for now. 96 – 97+ around 2025 probably. Already a feast and very happy to have a few.

Northern Rhone visit April 30, 2014; 5/8/2014-5/15/2014: Winery visit- Aromas of cassis, blue florals and spice- very elegant aromas. Flavors of tea, spice, minerals, cassis- layered and silky. Fleshy mid-palate. Big polished tannins and a full finish. Very elegant, and deceptively big. A great wine.
