Deep cherry red, lovely gloss. Pure cool berries with a touch of cherry stone zest. Bright fruit, red and black cherry, fruit sweet with a cherry stone sour edge and finish. Poised and well structured, silky across the palate, finish has some fine tannins and good acidity. Feels youthful, no hint of oxidation, a good one for longer storage.

Cherry and strawberry dominant the nose, however, the palate is much darker with cherry liqueur, spices and herbs. Vibrant and complex with long finish.

PNP into Riedel Burgundy glass (“Root” day): Pale bright ruby with garnet hues.
Dried leaves that reminiscent of black tea, florals minty, liquorice and earthy notes. Cherry liqueur and wild strawberries. Fine and freshly ground complex spices. Superb focus and clarity.
Amazing concentration on both nose and palate that is weightless and very long. Some good silky tannins too.
“Wow” and what a regal wine for me. 95 points easy.

The 2012 Cathiard Aux Reignots (along with Malconsorts and Petits Monts, my favorite 1er cru Vosne vineyard), is much more masculine and dark fruited than the Mugneret Gibourg Feusselottes 2015 consumed along side it. Really a great side by side. There is some reduction and prevalent new oak, but there is just such depth and structure to this wine and it’s destined to live for the long haul. But unlike how reticent many 12’s can be right now, as the reduction dissipates, it offers a great deal of pleasure. Reignots is really a special vineyard.

Drank this over three days. Very pleasant dark fruit, some spice and herbs. Nice grip and balance on the medium finish. Just never really got going the way I hoped it would

Exceptional showing; long endless finish; complexity that belies the youngish age of the vines. Beautiful perfume, mouth-watering sweet pinot fruit, smooth tanin and long mineral-inflected finish. I suggest CT community to open one up now and enjoy the beautiful youth of this wine. The color was so clean and bright, and there was only a hint of tertiary notes that I promised to myself not to open the next bottle for another 5 years. I will likely break the promise, already daydreaming about the flavor explosion.

Opulent dense aromas of dark raspberries, cherries, spices. Oak is present but not overwhelming in any way. Mouthfilling multiple layers of (dark) fruit with fine cut tannins, a bit rustic almost. A touch of earthyness, long finish. Very drinkable now but should benefit from cellaring another 5-10yrs. 92-93p

Weelend with Friends and Wine; 9/3/2023-9/4/2023 (Asian Spice House - Buchanan MI): Ripe black and red cherry with a clearly modern style. Lots here to enjoy, but the ripeness and new oak protruded more than I expected here, and not as much Vosne complexity ever came through on either Day 1 or Day 2.
