Deep plum red, subtle matured fruit bouquet. Dark fruit, dryish on the body. Short on after taste. Could mature a couple more years with refined tannins.

d'Arenberg with Chester Osborn (Strand Cellars, Croydon): Reductive initially with rubbery notes with time starts to show a little blackberry fruit and, with extreme agitation, it shows more concentrated plum and blackberry, spicy, touch of meatiness, a little leather in the mouth, over-concentrated, savoury, with tight chewy, grainy tannins, plummy and black pepper spice on the finish. Meh.

Dark crimson. Blueberry, earth, and cola nose. Medium bodied, nice sweet red fruit on entry, then the leathery tannins hit along with some heat, followed by a medium to long black cherry finish. There's a lot of stuffing here, but it needs more time.

This is a hefty, thick S. Australian Shiraz, but not a total fruit bomb. Ripe berry fruit is contrasted by a very nice leather and animal character on nose and palate. Maybe a bit too syrupy, but otherwise good. Will probably improve with aging. No hotness. Decent finish. Would definitely buy again at $17 and hold a while longer next time.

Bouquet of young red fruit and spices. On the pallette mature red fruit, acidicy medium plus and a long finish. A good effort for this new world Shiraz.

Big fruit on the nose, very new world Shiraz, medium tannins. Reasonably priced at 17, wouldn't pay any more for it, maybe a deal at $15. Finish is relativity strong, but lacks complexity

Picked up a bottle while travelling to Melbourne as a cheapie ($20 undiscounted).
This wine delivers strong fruit flavour with fine tannins that don't get in the way of enjoying this wine even 3 yrs after vintage.
The acid is a little unbalanced, but this, along with the structure should see this wine develop into a milder, more mature wine with some time in the cellar. I've got a few (half dozen or so) tucked away at home. Will need to try it in 5 yrs time to see how it's travelling, but I won't feel guilty if I crack a few before time.
Good value.

Starts out with aromas of blueberries, some light leather, and orange peel. Similar flavors with some ash and a pleasant soapy note. This last bit might have come from the hotel glass. Has lots of acidity but not in a sharp/tangy way along with moderate tannins. The finish is impressively long with a green edge to it. I find this ready to drink and enjoy right now. At the less than $20USD I paid, this is a borderline bargain.

(Tasting@d'Arenberg) Blueberries with classic shiraz leathers and funky barnyard. Big tannins, hot, more blue fruit and hint greenness. young - try again in another 5 years. ends with a pleasant ashy earthiness.

Dark red with red berries bouquet. Mix of red and black plums. Nice body of dark fruit. Little short on after taste

The lack of fruit that previous vintages had combined with high alcohol makes this wine less than enjoyable.
The next day saw high levels of tannin that were not evident the day before.
With 5 more in the cellar, I don’t want to be hasty to judge, but I expected more from a 2012 vintage wine.
