  • Winefield's auction pre-sale tasting: I found the bouquet indefinite; the taste is very friendly and quite 'open' with a good freshness, the finish is well balanced showing a gentle development.

  • Great again. Man I like the Poboleda acid in these wines. Blackberries, blue berries, red herries fine oak. Again a great performance.

  • Great Priorat. Nice acidiy backbone. Fresh wine from the Poboleda hills. Like it. Drink it within 2 years.

  • Dense, fruity and well balanced. With just little secondary notes of tobbacco and leather, very little. Quite high alcohol but the concentration defends the overall feeling of great wine. In this vintage 1st wine was not released so the wine has the grapes used normally for the first wine of Mas Doix.

  • Weekly tasting group RWP #263: Vincent's return :-) (@ VD): Fortunately the second bottle was fresh with cardamom, cedar, cherries and beautifully dosed oak. Good and juicy acidity and round tannin. Good length. 90 - 91

  • After a good decant I got a lot of plums and cherries. Great now or over the next five years.

  • Very powerful and ripe nose, almost jammy, black cherries, white peper, hint of vanilla... Super ripe tannins, ripe red cherries, completely integrated tannins, good concentration, good acidity/ salinity, good balance.

  • A brilliant experiment from the warm 2011 vintage, this seductive blend of 65% Garnacha, 25% Cariñena and 10% Syrah is ripe with aromas of red & black fruits, herbs & spices (garrigue, crocus, nora, vanilla), freshly-ground coffee beans, and moist tobacco. The rich and concentrated palate expands with extracted black cherry, boysenberry, raspberry, smashed-plum, and licorella flavors. Jubilant acids balance silky tannins, and a long, dry-ving (sic) finish. Salanques is the second wine from Mas Doix; however, in 2011 the grand vin was not produced. So, some of their best fruit bl/ended here. 15% abv (no heat). QPR+ Drink or hold.

  • Deep dark crimson. Black cherry aromas mix with cedar and tobacco. Very firm acidity balances the fruit nicely. Rich and full with long notes of cherry and citrus. Because of a finishing sweetness, has a cough syrup feel to it, but it a pleasing way not a criticism.

  • Intense violet/purple appearance. Big and jammy on the palate with non-specificic, highly confected fruit notes. Long generic, candied fruit finish. The general impression made was one of a candied and confected product. It seemed artificial, to me.

  • Darker purple and stylistically different than the 07, 08 and 10. Voluptuous with lots of younger, darker sweeter fruit. Plowed earth, heavy midnight pallet and full finish, this one is on it's way up and tastes great now.

  • Lighter in style than the '07, '08' 10 and '12, but very similar notes. Cassis, dark cherry and some raspberry on he nose.

  • Drank over three days. Beautiful bouquet upon opening, reminiscent of high quality, youthful Margaux, with ripe boysenberry and blackberry scents showing prominently. As the wine opened it became apparent that it is made in a modern, fruit forward, oaky style, albeit with high acid. By the third day high-pitched, Rioja-like acid and (oak imparted?) sappiness dominated. The acid might allow this to develop into something more interesting...but does it have the stuffing to age long enough to get there? 91-92.

  • The ‘2011 Salanques’ is an extremely elegant and well-structured Priorat wine grown on the pronounced slopes (slate soils / llicorella) surrounding the village of Poboleda (province of Tarragona / Catalunya), a blend of 65 % Garnatxa and 25 % Carinyena (from 70-90 years old vines) completed with 10 % Syrah (younger vines). Aged for 14 months in Allier barriques (half new and half one year old). The wine is still in its adolescent phase, so it should be decanted at least two hours before consumption. Intense black red color with purple edges and a splendid bouquet displaying scents of sour cherry, incense, leather, Mediterranean herbs and fine vanilla nuances. The powerful but elegant palate reveals concentrated plum and berry fruit, an excellent balance and great depth, silky textured tannins and a juicy well-balanced acidity. Solid, persistent finish. An outstanding Priorat wine that will evolve for several years and provide pleasure from now to 2023.
