I can see why this grape was significant to Bordeaux wines before the 20th century. This wine fools me every time...I think I am drinking merlot!
Ok...the skinny. this wine is full-bodied, full-flavored & deeply colored that combines some of the best qualities from Cab Sauv & Merlot. Olive, spice, and black plum aromas come with some grit and savory accents.
This is well packed and voluminous; flavors of olive, plum, and wild berry finish sturdy and smooth, with minty accents.
If you are looking for a good introduction to the positives of Carmenère, try this."

Excellent. Coffee on the nose with subtle background notes of anise and spices. Very earthy on the palate with dark fruits. Gritty mouthfeel. Very enjoyable.

Ready to go with a 20 minute decant. Bright cherry fruit, spice, touch of mushroom. Terrific minerality, velvety tannins on the finish. Great pairing with slow cooked pork spare ribs. Drink now.

Very nice. Dark fruits. Reasonable balance. Still a bit tannic although it's not gritty. If a $40 Napa Cap and a French Merlot had a baby, this would be the kid.

Excellent carmenere for the price. Lots of spice and slightly bitter tannins, with enough dark fruit to offset it. Not as smoky as some carmenere, and a slightly watery finish, but hard to beat for <$15.

Tastes like a zinfadel or a strong syrah. Strong northern rhone spice notes. Strawberries, blueberries, strong bodied. Sweet palate. This was the first really enjoyable carmenere I have had.

Smooth and classy with dark fruit and none of the vegetal flavors sometimes found with Carmenere.

Red plums, red berries, spice, decent balance, not a big wine.
