Holy moly, this is good stuff. Burnished golden-yellow, with excellent legs. Nose has that beautiful lambswool that only comes with age, but this is especially delicate and ethereal. And the palate is a match: beautiful bruised apple fruit that evolves and evolves into a complex, suave, suave finish. This is most likely at its absolute peak of drinkability, so if you have some, drink it now before it begins to decline. This is a beauty right now, with reason to wait to enjoy. 5-13-17-9: 94/100.

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2013 (Restaurant Holz und Feuer, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Sophienwald Universal Changed the flight order to have the two baroque wines with the main course. Very bold and sweet nose. Same on the palate: bold, lots of extract, phenolic, sweet, dense and deep. Good length. Needs probably a decade more to blend in all its components. 91-92+

Took a while to open and initially not as chilled as I would have preferred This was much better later in the evening as both initial shortcomings were remedied Really love these wines

Lunch at Batard: Wanted to share this producer since most people don't have much experience with Austrian Rieslings. For me this is a ridiculous value given that you can get the top plot of the top producer for under S$200. Took time to open up but when it did it showed a beautiful balance with layers of honeyed fruit without being too sweet. Loved the generosity of the mouthfeel, but wasn't too heavy unlike the warmer vintages. Unanimously the favourite white of the lunch.

This really is a terrific Riesling. Color deep yellow but I find the wine to be very dry but deep intense flavors. Absolutely gorgeous over 2 nights and wonderful fruit and acid....could drink this all night, especially if somebody else is buying. 94

klar, helles goldgelb sauber, intensives Aroma nach Zitrus, Mirabellen, mineralische Noten, leichte Reifetöne trocken, frische Säure, gut gebauter Körper, intensiver Geschmack nach reifen gelben Früchten, sehr mineralisch, sehr langer Abgang Gefällt mir ausserordentlich gut. Meiner Meinung nach noch deutliches Potential

Super perfumed on the nose with floral and fragrant bathsoap, orchard fruit and minerals. Great cut on the palate with minerals - the ripeness shows later into the finish with citrus and minerals. Great. 17.5/20.

One of our favourite wines, even if it gets more expensive by the year. We tend to drink this with trout with roasted almonds, as we ate that with the wine when we visited the region. The combination works great as it gives the wine space to shine. We analyzed it this time using Le Nez du Vin and came up with the following aroma's: strong aroma of lychee, muscat, and apricot; a bit of grapefruit and quincy. In the mouth, a nice balance of sweetness and acidity, especially with the lemon that covers out fish & almonds. There is a lot of depth and flavour to this wine-- an amazing experience every time we drink one.

quite tasty. Deep straw yellow color and deep intense flavors. Perhaps we drank too quickly or simply had had some desserts before, so did not really taste the sweetness that others note. This has quite deep minerality

First bottle from a small case. Straw yellow. Initially a bit tight, needs about half an hour to open up. Good acidity but on the sweet side for me, like a dry German Spaetlese, good length too but not sure this is for the long run. Prefer the 2013 Prager Gruener Veltliner I had the other day.
A beautiful Riesling although the botrytis may not be to everyone's taste. Plenty of positives to offset this. Excellent ripeness , extraction, clearly some skin contact but sufficient ripeness for phenolics not to be an issue. Great length and intensity. The one drawback of the botrytis element is that I do not expect this wine to age particularly long; would drink over next 3 years

Excellent. Off melon citrus nose; somewhat muted. Such panache on the palate with great structure, limestone mineral notes and a chalky drying effervescence that lingers with a touch of spicy pear on the back end. Fantastic. Could benefit from cellaring but a treat to drink now.

Dinner at Mandu w/ the old crew: From magnum: This will age wonderfully for years. So young, but so awesome. It really opened up with air and warmth. So precise, clear and brisk, laced with minerals, but plenty of rich tropical fruits, honey, waxy, white pepper, ginger and floral tones. Complexity is absurd. I would love to bury a case of magnums at the bottom of a glacial lake for a quarter century - there's so damned much in here to unpack for a long, long time.

Magnum Fest (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): So crazily young, but this was amazing to taste. It's a phenomenal wine that I revisited with excitement and amazement several times over the course of the afternoon. Every bit of air helped, as would time in the cellar. Deep honey color. Rich aromatics of honey, graham cracker, cinnamon, crushed rocks, white pepper, saline, wildflowers - the aromas just keep going. On the palate, such richness, like a cascade of melted wax and honey, but the acidity sweeps in a keeps it clean. Gorgeous tropical fruit mixes with tart lime and apple, and the fruit is doused in honey, white tea, white pepper, minerals, crushed chalk and oyster shells. Crazy-long finish. An amazing and scintillating wine. I would love to bury a magnum of this for two decades.

Bye Bye Timmy (Convivial - Washington, D.C.): From magnum. Definitely the case of trying a wine too early. Thought the white florals, tropical fruits, and minerals were a bit muted. I would have liked to try this agin later in the night, but I forgot. Look forward to trying again soon.

Rieslings from 2013 - tasted blind: Beautiful nose with loads of ripe, juicy exotic fruits. Full bodied. Fantastic depth of flavors, dense midpalate, very good acidity and length. Rich, appealing, full of power.

A bit tight and much less expressive than Hochrain at this stage. Good acidity, rich, concentrated and powerful with flinty minerality. Again enormous length. Beautiful, a vintage well suited for this style of wine. 94-95+
