I agree with Thalver's note. I think this wine was a bit over the hill. I probably should have opened it about 3 years ago. Nevertheless, it was still a very well made wine and quite enjoyable but with more mature elements (similar to an older white Burgundy). Drink now for those who still have this wine in their cellar.

The color didn't show its age. on the palate, there was a hint (in a pleasant, not flawed way) of oxidative/aged flavors and oak. It could have passed for a white burg. Drink or hold

The wine looks yellow colored. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like pineapple. It tastes like lemon and pineapple. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity.

Decanted for about 45 minutes and poured. descent cut, some oak is present but not too intrusive.....continued to open up through the evening. Drinking well, but probably not yet at peak.

At 1862. Fragrant nose of buttery oak, flint. On the palate round buttery green fruit, nice acid and oak. Just great crispness and balance. Lingering citrus finish. This is a well done not overdone oaked chard.

@ Bar Room, The Modern. As good as it was 8 months ago. This had waves of lemon curd, tropical fruits and ripe peaches, smooth with great complexity and acidity. Drinking wonderfully now

California Chardonnay (Trent's): This was quite good. Light golden in color. The nose has lemon curd, vanilla cream and some fresh cut lumber. On the palate, there is a nice lemon candy with spice. Light tannins. Good balance. Although I typically don't love this style, this was very well made and it seemed to work quite well as a package. There was a nice tart acidity that acted as a nice foil to the fruit and oak. Seemed to improve all night.

@Gary Danko, SF. Burgundy style chardonnay, drinking beautifully now. This can be drank now or kept a few more years. This is more of a Burgundy style than Californian with less fruit forward and more acidity notes. However there were still some light notes of truffle, hazelnut and vanilla. Beautiful!

Medium yellow. Offers deeply pitched and complex aromas of citrus marmalade, poached yellow apple, pastry crust, vanilla, toast and a lifted floral note of orange blossoms and acacia. Nearly full bodied on the palate, where the flavors seem to touch of every inch of the mouth, this is textured to the point of seeming phenolic finishing long and clean with medium+ acid driving bitter citrus flavors.

Coravin/Again impresses for its gentle harmony and melony fruit. Fuller and far more interesting than the most recent 2012 Chardonnays I have tasted recently, the Ridge Monte Bello and Mount Eden. I'm not sure this will improve with more bottle age, though, so drink now.

Expressive aromatics of yellow fruit, some ripe pear and exotic fruit, spices and some marzipan. Pretty full-bodied with medium-high acidity and good length. A pretty Chardonnay that's on the more full-bodied side for Ramey but still has plenty of tension and freshness.

Bright nose of tart green apple, some vanilla. Green apple very up front on entry along with some tropical fruit and melon flavor. A bit of oaky bitteriness. Nice tart acid. A back-of-the-palate sensation that makes me think clove—although, it certainly does not taste like clove.

Hazy light yellow color. Lemon cur, vanilla, crisp apply-pear on the nose. IN the mouth, some spicy oak, nice acidity and good medium length finish. Very nice medium scaled cali chard.

Feeling depressed - long story - and was in bed until Noon. The better of us cajoled and called in extra forces to overcome the funk. Not sure it worked, but bringing this barely legal, ready to rumble, stunner from the Hyde Vineyard sure went a long way to helping. Coupled with the home-cooked Chinese and Indonesian food, well, feeling somewhat better.

Dramatically different from the '09, the last vintage of Ramey Hyde I have tasted, and all the better for it. The oak has been dialed back greatly, resulting in a much fresher version, with notes of green apple, pear and lemon. Devoid of tropical fruit, it's almost gentle and very easy to drink now. I could wish for a bit more intensity, though, but that may be the 2012 vintage. But nascent complexity more than compensates and this is my favorite 2012 California Chardonnay so far.
Let this blockbuster fresh chardonnay breathe for a good hour before sipping. Did you say honey, vanilla, butter and texture...Ramey did, inclusive of a smooth and long finish.

PNP at cellar temperature (55). Light golden/yellow with hints of green. Beautiful green apple and citrus rind on the nose. This wine has a beautiful bright palate of lemon and once again green apple. It has upfront dense flavors yet a light mouthfeel. I feel the oak is understated and non-intrusive. The acidity on this wine lingers in the background serving its purpose without ever declaring itself. The finish is smooth, effortless and long.

California Chardonnays, Blind (Chez John Morris): Fresh, creamy peaches and sweet oak, with slight tropical hints and a nice floral edge. It's ripe but taut, with good power and acidity. As it warms up it gets a little oaky, with the wood sticking out slightly, but I think there is very good material here and I think it just needs some time to come together. I ranked 3/8.
