1 hour slow ox. Nose: Black fruits and savory pan grille w/ a bit of graphite and tar. Palate: Blacks fruits w/ solid yet evolved tannins and a medium length finish. Last notes on 11/26/17. Still 91 points.

Decanted for an hour - fresh cherry and blueberry notes with very smooth tannins. This is drinking really well but will last. Glad we have several more of these!...

2 hour decant (mag decanter). Similar to last bottle (notes on 10/7/15) but much less tannic and evolved. Still 91 points. Went great with Tuscan beef and potatoes.

This is "delicate" to the point of being bland; it has no sharp corners or rough edges, but there isn't much to crow about either....nothing at all notable. This is my fourth bottle of this wine, and all were the same. It has been grossly overrated by others here. This is a purchase that I regret.

Decanted... Deep crimson in color and opaque throughout. Intoxicating aromas show a modern style but clearly retaining its old word characteristics. Intense and complex scents of leather, espresso and tobacco meld seamlessly with roasted nuts, dark chocolate, black cherry, blackberry, dried cranberry, currant and a mix of cola and spice. The palate is rich and refined with plush tannins and textures. Structured in all aspects, moderate plus acidity, fruit, density, tannins and alcohol. Flavors of black cherry, currant, blackberry and cranberry are seamlessly accompanied by leather, mahogany, chestnut and walnut, cigar tobacco, espresso, dark chocolate, baking spice vanilla and toasty oak. Long through the masculine and suave finish.

Consumed over two evenings, 2/1 to 2/2. It was tight upon opening, better with air, and better than that on day 2. It was good, but a generic Tempranillo, with no terroir or minerality...just black cherry, oak, and tannins, albeit well-balanced. No faults, but nothing distinctive.

Delicious classic Tempranillo. As advertised, paired absolutely wonderfully with penne and pink sauce. Interesting with a pnp. Ecstatic that I have 3 more.

Deep, clear red color. Red raspberry, fig, and some higher toned perfume. Medium weight. Bright fruit, some herbs and cocoa, adequate acidity, not much tannin left to resolve, and the barest touch of heat. It was a little astringent on the finish right out of the bottle, but this improved. Very good.

An alien lands on earth, knocks on my door and asks me to provide dinner. If the alien is refined and talkative I serve White Burgundy followed by Barolo. If the alien is inquisitive and probing, I serve Riesling followed by Pinot Noir. If demanding, I serve water. If the alien asks, "What is wine?" I serve Toro.

Very dry palate like sandpaper ineffectively trying to caress the mouth. An evident bitterness, which is unusual in red wine, like vegemite sourly grippping the upper palate with its jammy awkwardness. I love Numathia and Termanthia, but this, well, is a long way off the pleasure they offer.

By the glass selection at a local restaurant. Interesting nose of tar and a bit of dark fruit. Surprising in the mouth...dark cherry, a little bit of vanilla. Nose seems old world, but the mouth is pretty modern. Finishes with pleasant grainy tannins. I really enjoyed this wine with my cioppino, but I could see it with grilled meats or even solo. Not a value by the glass at $16 but that's what restaurant wine lists have come to.

1 1/2 hour decant (mag decanter). Nose: Earthy with minerals and spice. Meaty, gamey black fruits also present. Palate: Big tannins with spicy black fruits. Dark and dense this drinks far above it's price point. Solid QPR from WTSO at $19/bottle.

This is my first experience with Numanthia Wines and I really enjoyed this great, moderately priced bottle. It has a very dark purple to ruby red color, and a nose of dark fruit, cherries, and menthol. Initially, this wine was very hot, but over time, it's alcohol evaporated, and its aromas and flavors settled down. The wine is very extracted with tastes of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, mocha, and cedar. I really enjoyed its rich, full bodied mouthfeel. It has a long finish with gritty tannins. Will definitely improve with cellaring.

Drank over two nights. Blueberry, oak and spice. At this point the fruit seems overwhelmed. Aggressive tannins. Port like mouthfeel. Detectable heat. Based on the producer I feel there is a future for this wine but opening this wine anytime soon would be doing it a disservice.

Really liked this wine for the modest price point. Bright and bold, blue/blackberry with some spice, and enough tannin grip to suggest it might get better in a few years. But I drank both pretty quick and will have to buy more to find out

Notes of blueberry and blackberry fruit with perhaps a touch of eucalyptus or menthol, I can't decide which. The tannins are still quite prevalent but there is enough structure in the wine for them to subdue allowing the fruit to come forward more. I think Parker got it wrong with his 89 and drink by 2016. Should (and needs to!) age for a bit longer.

So much smoke on the nose and palate. Secondary notes of blackberry and baking spices. Coarse tannins make it taste tight and very young. A very interesting wine and could stand up to many strong foods, in fact, even a good steak was not enough

Dark purple in color, Dark fruit, and jammy on the front, with a mouth coating feel. Back end has some oak and coffee and chocolate notes. Drank over two days and the back end showed up more on the second day. Still a fruit forward, concentrated wine. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed it.

Yes, it's big and bold, but it's not a Parker fruit bomb. Very approachable plush blueberry and blackberry fruit are supported by ample tannin, though not much acidity. Lacking complexity now, but cellar time should help. A nice surprise, considering that vintages after the 2006 have been sub par. With some bottle age, the 2011 may really shine.

3 Numanthias: Hugely extracted on the nose, with tons of blueberry pie, cedar, plum cake and some motor oil. Big and burly on the palate, with a dense mouthfeel, grippy tannins, low on the acid. Blueberry pie and Bordeaux cherries slathered with espresso, soil and smoke. Very hedonistic. Needs a lot of time because the tannins are fierce right now.
