Day 3: Not sure if this will ever improve. Really hard and rustic, not in a good way. Some baking spices, sandalwood and cherries but overripe plums and cigar ash are lurking in the background. Kind of a mess, unfortunately. I love the 2011s from WA but this might be a lost cause. I'm going to give my other 2 bottles a few more years to see if they shed the somewhat harsh aspects that are currently at the forefront.

Fruity nose with blackberry, black cherry, pepper, and hint of burned rubber. Mouthfeel was a little thin. Dry with healthy acid, which was notable at first and smoothed out as soon as we added food.

Blend of Merlot, Cab Sauv, and Malbec. Black cherry and spices on the nose, but it's fairly restrained. Primarily a dark fruit flavor experience, with some cedar and earth notes. Tannins medium. Longish finish.

Nose is a touch "cheap"-smelling, but the palate is rich and balanced and has a lovely caramel note on the finish. Good stuff. $30.
