Second bottle I had in my life. The first was in 2007, and it was corked… this is the second, bought in an auction in this case; I suppose it has been preserved not properly and it has orange colour and the smell reminds to cork and Marsala smell. Tannins are very low and acidity is important and gives a lingering persistence. It is incredible how the in mouth this wine is quite drinkable, despite the nose and the color.

This opened with copper and red fruit, and sharp acidity. It unfolded nicely with air gaining body with time. This has a narrow profile, with blood, metal, red fruit overlayed on leather. Medium body. Nice.

Improved tremendously over time. Opened with lots of tannins and residual acidity. Nothing reflecting a Sangiovese. After a couple of hours it got much better and from there it only improved with time. Delicate and complex. Opened a nose of violets and a taste of berries and earthy tones. Fantastic effort that scared me a lot for a while.

A hint of mushroom from the cork marred what could have been a fabulous bottle. It had good fruit intensity and plenty of meat and earth. There was plenty of chew to the finish and acidity was brisk and energetic.

Fill base neck / very top shoulder. Not a blockbuster, but impeccably elegant, refined, and really, really pretty. Lovely, if a little reticent, initially, but with a couple hours of air, the wine opened up beautifully and was quite a bit more expressive and nuanced. Still, this is a delicately structured wine, yet one with an extraordinarily supple and luxuriously silky texture, not unlike that of fine Hermès silk scarf. 92-93. Drink now to 2018.

29 anni portati benissimo!!!

Beautiful mature wine. Nose of an old wine. Clean with spice, macerated cherry fruit and notes of ash and leather. Palate is lean in a good sense with tannins completely resolved, fluid texture and good finish. A wine for meditation and one not to keep any longer. Tasted together with other mature Brunellos like Ugolaia and Cerretalto this was the most elegant.

This was a great bottle, perfectly cellared. Clearly not in prime, but mature and still somewhat fresh sangiovese -- quite delicious with food. Gobs of anise and dark red fruits. Tannins fully integrated. Definitely drink now.

wine-pages.com SuperBOWL 2009 (Glasgow): Not terribly forthcoming on the nose with fairly old, soft red fruits. A lovely subtle old lady.

Awesome for two sips. Tarry and three-dimensional, like a classic Rioja with extra accessories. Then the TCA emerges.
