  • Singing at the moment - colour is starting to turn - well integrated tannins by now - drink or hold. Will keep last bottle a few years to see where it goes

  • (Guido, Fontanafredda) PnP. Ripe fruit is forward here, yet balanced overall. Flowery aromatics, some dried rose petals, delicate overall with fruit more than offsetting the tannins. '00 Fontanafredda La Rosa came off as more tannic and bigger in comparison. Very enjoyable at this stage.

  • LPV Lyon 2, Christmas dinner. Served blind, my wine. Decanted for 2hrs then returned to bottle. Red currants and spiced red fruits on nose, evolves to fruit cake, old wood furniture, flowers and tobacco. Initially palate was a bit disjointed (bit too cold on initial pour) but slowly came together, robust tannin and driving acid meld and take on a silkier texture. Long finish. Bottle did not quite have the purity and depth of fruit of tasting of this wine at the domain back in 2017... I think maybe could have used even more air than the 2 hr decant I gave it...

  • Reviewing 2009 Barolo (Javier's Place - Madrid): Less than 2,000 bottles per year of this wine for ageing, with a classic style on the nose and without shrillness, it is abundant, made with finesse and good taste in the mouth. Still have to wait.

Menos de 2.000 botellas al año de este vino de guarda, de estilo clásico en nariz y sin estridencias, abundante, elaborado con finura y buen gusto en boca. Todavía hay que esperar.

  • Nose: The nose is deep, savory, and perfumed with a dark red fruited base. The tones of violets, dark red cherries, raspberries, earth notes, leather, minerals, juniper berries, and licorice.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium+ tannins and medium+ acidity. The tannins are chewy and somewhat stiff with the acidity having some punch as well. The feel has some density to it along with a darker take to the tones of violets, dark red cherries, raspberries, sour red fruits, juniper berries, and licorice tones.

Overall: This was decanted for over 6 hours before consuming. This is an outstanding Barolo that is drinking extremely well right now. It needs some time to get going, but it picks up more nuance and perfume as it gets more air. While this can easily age for another 8+ years, this is quite accessible right now if given plenty of air.

  • I think it is still good, but it feels a bit the age and the warmth of the vintage. Tertiary aromas showed quite clearly, the dried fruit, the earthy character.
Even though acidity is still good and tannins quite grippy I am not sure if this can age much longer. There is complexity and enjoyment of course, oak influence, tar, rose, tobacco, meat, but the freshness is almost gone.

  • Wow, in a great spot now, with room for improvement, too; Audozed 3 hours. The aromas just kept coming, and though a bit slow to change, when they did they were (in a different tone) just as powerful, rich and vivid. The flavors were somewhat less intense, suggesting that the best is yet to come in that regard, but the nose, oh wow, it was really quite something. Really speaks to the vintage, the site and the variety - really speaks to the purity, too. Full(-) body, with sweet, round tannins and a good dose of fresh acidity. Aromas and flavors are consistent with soil, red>dark red fruits, purple flowers, truffle, balsamic glaze, some fresh tar. Not sure how someone could age this, I mean it's drinking so well right now. That said, it does have the bones to go another decade, but it's a fun ride as it is today, so if you have a few, open one and see what you think. Very fun, really great with food. Bravo, Oddero! 14,5% abv. (resolved), drink thru 2026. highly recommended

  • Tasting at the Cantina. From 80yr old vines. Garnet colour, almost no bricking. Intense, dramatic nose with roses and pure, rich cassis, followed by strawberry and kirsch. Wonderful silky smooth palate, full of elegant sweet fruit. Sensational wine that was drinking so well and was to me the best wine of the weekend's tasting. Just superb

  • Yearly truffle dinner at the great Italian restaurant “La Vecchia Signora” in Stockholm.
Newly harvested white truffles flown in straight from Alba was the base in all of the six courses served.
This year the winery Oddero was present with their wines.
Nose is flaunty, big, with sweet fruits, sweet licorice and alcohol.
Very similar to the Bussia Vigna Mondoca Riserva I just had.
Palate is equally kind of pumped up, big and flaunty, sweet and almost overripe fruits, with sweet licorice and alcohol.
This lacks acidity for balance, and also suffers from too much alcohol and ripeness of fruit.
Went okay with the food, but not my style of Barolo.

  • Tryffelmiddag på La Vecchia i Stockholm med viner från Oddero.
Söt mogen doft, svampskog, tjära och lite rostade kaffetoner. I smaken söt mogen frukt, kaffe, söt lakrits. Mjuk, fet, stor och biffig. Lite för mycket med väldigt gott.

  • (Decanter Italy Tasting 2016) :: Concentrated, intense complexity and perfume. From 75 year old vines; harvested at half the normal yield. It's a bowl of dried flowers, then soil, tar and mushrooms. Excellent and fine tannin structure; great acidity and freshness and an unctuous mouthfeel. Goes on and on. Glorious.

  • Tasted next to the 2011 Villero. A bit more open and earthy on the nose, ripe red fruit, balsamic notes, tar. Hints of flowers. On the palate quite big, in comparison lower in acidity and sweeter, still quite tannic. Intense, lingering, but not quite as vibrant and lively than Villero. Drink or keep. 90-92

  • artisan vintners — Friends & Family Tasting (The Sampler, South Kensington): Richer and fuller. Denser fruit but broader and lacking in finesse. Decent but a product of the vintage. ***1/2
