Big, but balanced. Voluptuous mouth feel. Lots of fruit remains, with acid and tannins enhancing nuanced flavors of cassis, olive tapenade. The finish is juicy and long.

This is a big boy. Benefitted from a 2 hour decant. Lots of dark fruit, some tobacco and hints of leather. In a beautiful place and probably will go out another 3 - 5 years.

Magnum. Very big wine - too big to be a regular drinker imo. Throughout vertical, there were some distant notes of tobacco and floral - but these were mostly drowned-out by the heavy dark fruit. Keep in mind that we drank the entire magnum; I just wouldn’t seek out this wine in the future.

Inky dark, fresh red hue at edges. Smoky, tabac, earthy, ripe cherries. Some floral notes, poss hint of black pepper. Little bit of cedar. Both are the higher tone notes. Silky smooth entry, nice sweet mid palate with lots of flavor, becomes pleasantly astringent and chewy. Plenty of great cherry and black cherry and blackberry fruit flavor. Bit hot in the finish. Nice wine; wishing had more!

This wine was incredibly smooth with an excellent balance of acid, fruit, and terrior. It's evident that Duval really knows the Syrah grape and makes outstanding wines. Single splash decant and poured back into the bottle. Didn't need air but still evolved over the hour it was shared.

Smooth but firm tannin on entry. Blueberry, Marionberry, ember, and anise all present. Slight pepper on the finish. Very nice, and should drink well for another 10 years

Very dark in the glass, with still a touch of purple, the nose is very accessible and complex, with blackberries, spices, and a touch of meatiness. The palate is big and bold, with rich, full fruit and more of that wonderful spiciness. The mid-palate is surprisingly youthful, and there is a notable mouth-drying astringency. The acidity helps with that on the finish, though, which is long and balanced. Delicious throughout, this is an occasion-worthy wine which, while very good now, will continue to improve for the next five years and should last quite a while after that. It’s worth the $50-ish price tag, but if you only have one, as I did, my recommendation is to hold for several more years. If you must go ahead now, a bit of air does help. Even as-is, though, this was the unanimous WOTN for our New Year’s celebration.

First time WA Syrah and wow was this impressive! The fruit that came off as I poured this into the decanter was amazing. An hour later, this was singing with bold red fruits and a hint of pepper on the back end. Good acidity and smooth, integrated tannins. Medium 20 second finish. I'm definitely going to seek out more of this and other WA Syrahs!

Smokey, meaty, licorice and some olive. Not much pepper. Definitely a WA style syrah. This was fabulous and the wine of the night. Went well with a Christmas rib roast.

This will open up, but is not what is expected for the cost of this. More of a Merlot that syrah. Very fruit forward and mild pepper spice. Drink it if given the opportunity, but do not buy this. Just a fair syrah.

Decanted for a couple hours. A beautiful wine. Fruity, smooth, dry with a light but firm backdrop of tannins and a little oak flavor in the background, which linger on the palate. A perfect complement to a nice relaxing weekend meal.

Striking aromatics of Deep Purple pencil lead and violets, with a hit of anise. This carries over into and coats my mouth with a complimentary acid streak. Very glad to have more.

Lots of typical Syrah markers like liquorice, violet and plums but also some more herbal notes. This gave the impression of an Australian-American hybrid with a Northern Rhône touch. Good acid, good structure and well-balanced. Gave it a quick decant, but it improves in the glass so it should be even better with a longer decant or a couple of years in the cellar. 91+

Heavy sediment did not diminish my enjoyment. Soft, luscious mouth with good fruit to the finish.
