(dinner at derek's) Oh wow, deep effusive berries, exotic dark florals and wood spices (violets, ylang?). Confection, yes, but age has treated this bottle very well - fully resolved, silky, bright, concentrated, with lifted elegance. Pure fruited, with just an edge of seductive incense. Dry autumn leaves. 10 years is looking good on this, and I wonder how it will hold in another 5. Drinking beautifully now, nothing out of place (not even the alco). Fantastic value punching well above weight.

The wine is showing a bit more mature with less fruit and more complexity. Finish is full and medium tannin. I'm not sure whether I prefer this wine young or a bit older. If you like young and vibrant drink early if you like it a bit more subtle and elegant drink it with 4-5 year age.

I've tasted about five bottles since my last rating and they seem to be improving in storage. They are showing their complexity and their layering of flavors and character. Buy this wine and enjoy it now but put it down for a year or so and gain a much better wine. This isn't going to last long enough to get more than another year although I would like to taste it in 3 years.

Nose: very ripe blackberry, plum jam, burnt caramel, spices, coffee, big and dark nose Taste: full bodied, medium- acidity, medium+ tannins, blackberry, plum jam, mulberry, tar, caramel, clove, dark chocolate, robust wine but fairly balanced, solid coffee finish, better than expected

A very satisfying Garnacha. Went nicely with barbecued turkey. We probably drank it too quickly to let it fully open, but everyone enjoyed it and wished there were more.

- Brick color - I was surprised the dark color of this wine was similar to a Petite Syrah, and can only surmise it was due to the old vines used to produce this wine. It's aroma and flavor was of red fruits, balanced, medium body, and overall was quite pleasant. I paid under $15, and plan to buy more.

meh .. burnt rubber and sweet fruit on the nose, medicinal cherry and cola on the palate. Slightly chemical. Did not benefit from side by side comparison with Bernabaleva Navaherreros, which cost slightly less and was way more interesting

Bland and lifeless, a bit harsh alcohol bite. Light raisin, cocoa, vanilla and mocha, but just too thin and watery. Perhaps better with something fatty like chorizo and cheese?

Purple-ruby. Aroma of pungent vanilla, hint of black pepper, lots of prune, strawberry and a bit of honey. The body is medium. Finish is medium. The wine has medium acidity. As it warms, hint of balsamic, blackberry syrup. Not complex on the tongue... very "single note", but decent QPR, especially for a monday night. hint of a bite in the back of the throat and hint of medicinal cherry on the tongue.

While this is one of the wines that got me into wine, this is starting to feel clumsy and artificial.
creamy full body, low acid, sweet fruit and loads of oak and vanilla. slightly acrid alcohol on the tail end and a whiff of cheap wood chips.
massive palate of blueberry pie filling, black cherry candy and blackberry syrup. Fruit is followed by a big dose of caramel, cocoa and sweet oak. Jammy.
extracted structure with sweet tannins, glycerin, and lower acid. I can see why this is great for newbies or people who want big mouth filling reds but after developing my palate, i understand the crudeness that is on display. that being said if you're on the market for an inky ripe blend under $20, Tres Picos is remarkably consistant.
Grenache from old vines and low yields make it more concentrated. Deep red color. Flavors of strawberries, blackberries. Aromas of plums. Smoke on the aftertaste. Very good wine.

Would not have guessed its 15%. The wine is purple and opaque with a ripe fruit forward nose dominated by plumbs and dates with a peppery finish. Consistent palate and a ripe dark plumb and subtle mineral finish. I'm not normally a grab ache fan but this is s very nice table wine. 5+12+16+8=91

Thick, sweet, syrupy, vanilla bomb. I couldn't even choke down a glass of this "pseudo-wine". I'm guessing this concoction was created with heavy doses of vanilla-extract infused oak chips and mega-purple. A monstrosity.

Primary, saturated purple color. Incense and spice box aromas. Lush, zesty entry. Black cherry, tobacco leaf and a zesty oak spice finish. This really hangs on pleasantly. This is best QPR I've found in a couple of years. Back up the SUV. 90
