Really enjoyed drinking this. Its rare that I feel compelled to drain an entire bottle myself in one sitting, but here we are and the job is almost done. Has been too long since I cracked open a decent Hunter Shiraz. Black purple. Plum, earth, leather, blackberry. Savoury but with a core of something like molasses. Viscous, syrupy... only a little but enough to bring those things to mind. Tannin structure coats the mouth on the finish and provides a framework for the other elements of this wine to display to best effect. Fantastic.

Hunter Valley - 6 Cellar Doors (Hunter Valley): {screwcap, 13%, A$50} Spice, earth, dust, red fruit. There’s a bit of black pepper and currant on the palate too. Mainstream modern hunter. Even and savoury, with medium tannins and body, and a medium-length finish. Nice wine, but the price is getting a bit scary.

Straits Wines - Brokenwood Wine Tasting (Straits Wines @ Siglap): deep and inky ruby; acidic and tannic, and full of alcohol and body, with black cherry, black pepper, liquorice, cedar, toffee; complete with a long finish; impressive!

Savoury and quite deep, some smokiness. I enjoyed that. It should become more complex and broader with time.

deeper and more concentrated, plenty of tannin and quite awkward, needs plenty of time
