Dark plum colour. Lovely high cherry notes with some leather and baking spices. Rich and opulent nose. Mid bodied wine with red licorice and cherry notes followed by some leather and a touch smoky. A touch astringent on the palate. May need a little more air.

An absolutely lovely Chambolle for immediate drinking. Notes of blue fruit, raspberries and a touch of spice. Is it profound? No, but this is the essence of a very fine Burgundy. I would drink now and down the road for a few years as there are no noticeable tannins or acidity. Paired with broiled salmon....an excellent match. A very good effort for the vintage.

Dinner at Kai Garden. Very deep dark red, slightly purplish. A little muted and subdued initially but with some aeration, there were violets, currants, blueberries and pomegranate. A little smoky and charred, but not obtrusive. Good acidity on the palate, with nice silky tannins and a good amount of blue fruit. A little short, but that would obviously be corrected with extended cellaring. A nice enjoyable floral and elegant Chambolle, perfect with duck.

Blindtasting Vogue, Roumier and Mugnier village. Vogue tasted like a Rhone wine as always. Mugnier was the most elegant and lightest. Roumier fairly dark deep fruit and the most complex nose. I prefer Mugnier.

Deep, primary, sous-bois and sweet raspberry, slowly releasing more perfume, building up blackberry and darker fruit. Tight, salty, soaring acidity. Long finish, like chewing on raspberry pips. ****

Tasted at Swedish Importer Tryffelsvinets yearly Bonneau du Martry & Comte Georges de Vogûé 2013 vintage event, with Jean Luc from Vogüé hosting. Lovely, despite somewhat shy nose showing raspberries, spices, Chambolle airy perfume. Some minerals too. Palate shows an wonderful acidity, spices, creamy tannins, good structure, clean and transparent fruit with very good length, drive and balance. Lovely raspberries! A superb village, indeed! (made with quite a lot 1:er cru grapes too) (92 – 93)

Masterclass with Domaine Vogüé (Jean-Luc Pepin) and Bonneau du Martray (Jean-Charles le Bault de la Morimiere) (1243 Bourgogne Society - Beaune): Black berries on nose and palate. Sweet, juicy fruit that retains excellent brightness. Silky tannins and an elegant structure with subtle minerally textures I really enjoy, all coming together in a finish that seems to be dancing on your tongue. A very good vintage for this wine, with easily 90+ point potential.
