So glad we bought a bunch of this when we visited the winery in 2015. Decanted three hours before dinner of home made pasta with home grown and made tomato sauce with sweet Italian sausage. Sexy and elegant. Dark cherries, blueberries, nice bit of ash. Fantastic example of Brunello.

2010 Brunellos are drinking beautifully now, I’m so glad that I bought a few dozen bottles of different good producers back then. This one show lots of blackberries, blueberries, dried red cherries, green herbs and elegant earthy notes. Everything is perfectly balanced. Very elegant and sexy. Can easily hold longer if stored well. (IG)

Prior bottle was 22 months ago (Dec 2021) and the wine has evolved positively in that time, along the lines I'd hoped. Black cherry, blackberry, spices, earth and floral notes on the nose. Close to full bodied with a fruit profile very similar to my prior bottle with black cherry and blackberry the dominant notes and a nice touch of plum towards the back. But it's the layers and nuances that make this wine special; brighter, more tart notes mixed with rounder more open qualities of both black cherry and blackberry give this wine complexity, elegance and silkiness. Tannins, tart black cherry, acidity, earth and minerals help give the fruit definition through the middle, support on the backside and length through the finish. As compared to my prior bottle, it felt more integrated between the various elements and more balanced throughout. Should continue to evolve along these lines in the near term with a number of years left ahead at this very high level. Next bottle for me, Fall 2024.

I really liked this. Shut down initially, but after some air it opened up into a nose of leather and dirt, dried cherries, game, oak. Medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. This still has the legs to age for quite a while.

Thin, tart Cherry and a funky nose, something I thought would blow off with the 3 hour decant. It didn’t change much over the 2 hours we drank it. Color was a clear, light ruby red. No bricking.

Drinking nicely now after 2 hour decant. Tart cherries and finishes with good acidity and only a bit of astringent tannin. Served with lamb ragu over pappardelle.

I'm normally a big fan of this producer, but the wine didn't show very well compared to the same vintage of Banfi Poggio alle Mura. It was a bit tart and disjointed, and not very balanced. Perhaps it's still a bit too young? It didn't taste raisiny or over-aged. I have 1 more bottle I'll sit on (and definitely wait to crack my Prime Donne).

A very good wine. Dark cherries, tar, acidity, medium soft tannins and length. Decanted an hour and it was too short. Decant at least three hours. Had expected even more from this wine. Temporary closed. I would recommend 1-2 years in cellar to open up.

Black cherry, spices, earth and floral notes on the nose. Nearly full bodied (14.5% ABV) with really pretty black cherry upfront, showing a good mix of open, roundness and slightly bright, slightly tarter high notes. There are also some blackberry notes which serve to further brings out the brighter qualities. Mid-body has excellent depth and that beautiful, silky elegance that marks high quality brunellos. The black cherry gets darker and deeper through the middle and plum notes are added towards the back. Tannins provide the needed structure, but are fully in balance with the fruit. Some tart black cherry, acidity, earth and echoing mineral qualities mark the finish. The mineral qualities in particular ensure this wine has a really long finish. Really pleased with how this wine has turned out. I bought it over five and half years ago and this was my first bottle; well worth the wait. Should continue to evolve positively has the potential to score higher in the future. I'll plan to open my next bottle in Fall 2022.

What a brilliant wine. Cherry and leather and a touch of flowers on the nose that continues on in a long long beautiful smooth complex finish. It is going to be fun to watch how this evolves over the next decade but it is going to be hard not to drink them all now.

Just what my palate needed. This is hitting its stride nicely and evolving by the minute. Aromas of cherry, tar, licorice, fennel, dried tobacco. The palate is perfect right now to me. Nothing out of balance. Acid up front, tannins fine and integrated moving side to side and front to back with some last minute grip that lingers half a minute. Carries cherry, licorice, tobacco, dried herbs. Delightful wine. Salute!

The nose is clean of medium intensity showing notes of primary red fruit (cherry, strawberry), herbal tones (lavender, thyme), oak (cinnamon, vanilla, coffee). The wine is developing.
The wine is dry with high acidity, medium ripe tannins, medium (+) alcohol, medium (+) body, medium (+) length and medium flavor intensity. Notes of red fruit (cherry, strawberry), herbal tones (lavender, thyme), oak (cinnamon, cloves, coffee).
The wine is very good. A very classic and balanced Brunello showing soft texture and finesse, but depth and structure as well. The primary fruit is nicely highlighted by the high levels of acidity and is not once overpowered by the oak. Even though it's showing nice complexity, the wine could benefit from a bit more intensity. The long, concentrated finish will undoubtedly keep this together for years to come.

Friday night enjoyed with the spouse. Dropped into a decanter and consumed over the next several hours. Really starts hitting its stride after 60 minutes of air. Dark cherry, roasted tomato, tar, tobacco, leather, dried herbs...just so much going on. Tannins are firm but not oppressive and play well against the nice acids up front and carry through a long finish. 14.5% alcohol never shows itself. VERY nice.

Stunning. Decanted for an hour before serving and it continued to evolve over the next hour. Ruby hue that opens with potpourri, black pepper and roasted tomato aromas. Full-bodied with black cherry, cured meat and leather flavors. Great acidity/fruit balance with a hint of sandalwood on the lingering finish. Paired perfectly with Italian-marinated lamb kabobs and vegetables. Outstanding QPR.

Interessant.

Decanted it for about an hour because it seemed a little tight. The color is medium (+) to deep ruby. The nose is clean, with tart red cherries, sweet baking spices, savory herbs and some leather. The palate is dry, but with lots of ripe red cherries. The acidity is medium (+), the tannins are medium (+) to pronounced, but not overly astringent. The alcohol is high at 14.5%. This Brunello is full-bodied, intensely flavored, with a long finish. It seems relatively youthful and really needs food to be enjoyed now. It should reward cellaring for another three to five years.

Served by a friend, I found this to be very elegant, subtle, and classic - not modern like others suggest. An hour decant barely budged her open. It felt like we weren't getting the young fruit nor the later secondary notes. I'd love to try again in a few years.
Tasted at a blind tasting, no one guessed the identity, but all liked (30 years this group has done blind tastings). Gave it an all day breather. Should you drink it now? No. Can you? Yes if you must. Big wine, dense, well integrated. Expect better scores in the future.

Medium intensity aromas featuring smoke, cherry, underbrush, blackberry and floral notes. Medium-bodied, lush mouthfeel on the palate with black cherry, plum, sweet spice and subtle oak flavours. It has fresh acids and firm tannins that are integrating nicely. Excellent length on the finish.

Decanted and left to breathe for 10 hours. The colour is dense, dark red. Plenty of sweet/sour cherries on the nose. Hints of wood and vanilla.
Dense and full bodied on the palate, with lots of red fruit, sweet cherries, and fresh acidity. Some pepper and licorice. The tannins are tight and notable, but not harsh or overwhelming. Great length, with an ever so light alcoholic warmth at the end (this is 14.5% vs the producer's more common 14%)
The final glass was left in the fridge overnight, and on day two the wine had opened up further, now showing leather in addition. The slight alcoholic sting was gone.
This is definitely the toughest Brunello I've had from Donatella. The fruit and acidity has always been there, but this is denser, fuller and more structured than previous vintages. It is still a baby, although approachable, but I wonder how far it will go over the next decades. Absolutely wonderful.

Rich, powerful and complex aromas. Loads of plum, blackberry, leather, vanilla, violet and clove.

Flavours are rich and drop with meat, leather, cherry and bacon.
Long finish. Drink or hold.

I really enjoyed this wine. I know it's a great vintage but that aside the wine was so approachable with tons of fruit, lovely balance of acid and firm but smooth tannins. But best of all...a Brunello that is affordable!
