  • incredible wine! creamy and rich. White flowers and stone fruits bursting out of the glass. Flinty with layers of pear, white peach, lemon curd. Just an incredible wine.

  • Really aromatic nose. Citrus and floral
On the palette, predominately citrus and floral notes. Rather viscous in texture and slight oily on the finish.
Good on its own, but very good when had with food.

  • Totally different wine from a year ago. Beautiful pale gold color, with a bit of a viscous quality. The nose is off the charts, with on overall white floral quality, with big honeyed tropical notes of ripe pineapple, guava and lemons. That quickly transitions to a tangerine and cream note, which is sort of a dead ringer for a Creamsicle. The palate is a bit of a step down, but not bad. The fruit is very pineapple and lemon driven, with an odd powdered sugar sort of quality. It finishes with a good degree of minerality, but it combines with a little bit of heat, which is a little off putting and there is an abrupt transition from the fruit. The viscous mouthfeel is very well balanced by the medium+ acidity. A very good CA Viognier, but falls short of greatness.

Surprisingly (for CA Viognier, not Favia), this held up quite well over a couple days and developed a really interesting sweet thai basil / light anise sort of note as the intensity of the fruit ebbed a bit.

  • Outstanding. Tons of lemon and citrus with ample body. Great with grilled cod and rice. Can handle being served cold and will be great to have in the summer

  • I have enjoyed the Favia Viognier the two most recent years, and the 2012 adds to that. I really appreciate the detail in Seafoam Manor's review, though my experience was quite different. Intense fruit, most notably lemon curd with a hint of papaya on the finish. Agree the nose is fantastic. Overall, I really enjoyed this and look forward to watching it evolve over the next 2-3 years. My only complaint is a slight bite on the finish.

  • Very pale yellow with a greenish tint that really read more like a Pinot Griggio than a Viognier. Fantastic nose that was tropical and perfumed with big white flowers, lychee, slight pineapple and guava. If the palate matched the nose, this would be an incredible wine. Unfortunately, the palate was thin, with hints of pineapple, lychee, lemon and guava, followed by an overbearing amount of minerality. The volume on the fruit is turned down so low that you really have to go searching for flavor which sort of flies in the face of why I want a Viognier in the first place. The finish is very long on minerality but it is not really in a pleasant way, just reminding you of the fruit that wasn't there. It does manage to avoid the prominent alcohol one finds too often in CA Viognier. Pretty big disappointment and a horrible value. Without the nose, this would have a much lower score.

  • We are brimming with excitement for the release of our
recurrent, intermittent Suize Viognier. Capturing many of the
characteristics we love about Californian white wine, it
exudes sensual aromatics of a myriad of citrus fruits and
beeswax, which are generously supported by a vibrant acidity
with broad density. Dried lemon peel, calissons d’Aix
confections, honeysuckle and crushed stones emerge from the
glass. As you taste the wine, a seemingly infinite number of
layers of flavor unfold: orange blossoms, key lime pie,
Taylor’s Gold pears and fennel fronds spring to mind. The wine
carries the moniker of Marie Suize, a female prospector who
searched for gold in and around Amador during the California
gold rush. Her tireless spirit and dogged determination remind
us of our good friend Ann Kraemer, who tends the Viognier
vines. This wine is not produced every year, and it is with
baited (citrusy, floral!) breath that we share it with you and
    yours!
