warm and enticing bouquet of strawberries, ripe melon; medium bodied but rich and direct; rounded with a hint of tannins at this point; clean long finish; an unpretentious, delicious offering; might it be described as "syrupy" ? possibly, as it is one dimensional...but I'll take it.

Glad I got another bottle to try as a slightly older wine. Delicious foothills/mountain Zin, and a good amount of old-vine sap. Balanced, with good focus of the redder fruit, not too much oak or alcohol. Good to have this style of Zin available; it's more versatile for food pairing, and a nice example of foothills Zin.

Good wine at a reasonable price. Fruit up front with a little structure and medium tannins. Easy to drink and paired nicely with a spicy tomato sauce and noodles.

My favorite of the 6-wine flight. Pleasant and balanced red and dark red fruit, showing a certain class and focus, good length, freshness, and a bit of grippy tannin on the finish. Many compare Etna reds to a theoretical Zin/ Pinot blend; I'd compare this Zin (favorably) to an Etna red. Score? something like a 90-91

This one was truly a unique and enjoyable experience. From 130 year-old vines, this Zin had a unique flavor profile and structure that was already accessible, but well worth aging at least a couple of years. The 14.5% ABV was already well integrated for such a young wine, which we both found impressive and enjoyable. This is from the Deavor family and used to be released under the Montevina label. I’m not certain when it became just Terra d’Oro. Trinchero is the only other winery that I know of that is able to source grapes from this vineyard that was planted in 1881. 90pts now, but will likely improve.

No nose. Rasberry fruit, spice, balanced. Almost chewy tannins. Spicy finish. Good with leg of lamb.

A light, but tasty. Could use another year or two in the cellar. Paired nicely with a spicy Thai yellow curry. Fruity, but not sweet.

Promising nose of strawberry compote, but deflating on the palate. Confectionary and diluted. Disappointed.
