  • Drinking well with plenty of air at this point. Perhaps not profound but plenty of stuffing. Meaty rich dark red fruit with plenty of pepper. Tannins are still pronounced and this seems to have a long road ahead. Very nice as always from Sorrel!

  • This is a killer wine. Tasted blind. Had it pegged as CDP on the nose. On the palate high acid, high alcohol, full body. Cherries, blueberries, cinnamon, cloves. Long finish. Got better over the course of a few hours. Drinking incredibly but still young and likely to continue to improve. Outstanding.

  • Very expressive perfume out of the glass. Plenty of dark berries, cocoa powder, licorice, cardamom, violet, and creosote. This has gained considerable depth on the palate over the last few years, and I think it's close to entering its drinking window. Possessing very good definition for a wine of its weight/muscle, it finishes just ripe with grippy tannin still to resolve (93+). Hold/drink to 2036+.

  • The last two tasting notes by FMIII & AA some up my experience of this wine almost perfectly....although I might be a little more smitten with it. A gorgeous, elegant, floral, yet completely satisfying bottle of Northern Rhone Syrah - but blind, I would surely have reached for Cote Rotie rather than Hermitage. Drinking beautifully in late 2021 after a couple of hours in a wide bottom decanter. Will probably develop greater complexity with time (& perhaps some of the more typical savoury Hermitage notes ? ), but it's drop dead gorgeous as it is now. One of the most enjoyable wines I have drunk all year! 13%abv.

  • Poured blind. Pencil shaving and graphite aromas. This has such a pure raspberry fruit component, so delicious and fresh. Retasted the following morning, the wine had rounded out a lot more, with a juicy palate of red fruit, rosemary and licorice with good structure to carry the wine forward. This was my red WOTN.

  • My btl didn't show like the other notes suggest. Opened yesterday, unrefrigerated on the counter overnight, notes from Day 2 open, though not so much progression from Day 1. This is not intense, savory Hermitage, it is floral and elegant...more Cote Rotie imo. On the nose: sweet blackberry perfume, with a touch of tar in the background, and then more soft blackberry. On the palate, fantastic acidity, and excellent density...high-toned raspberry, then juicy and zippy blackberry, with excellent salinity. Weightless and elegant, with a soft tannic spice. The finish is juicy and well-structured...a fantastic btl of Syrah.

  • Medium+ bodied, rustic style. Blackcurrants and bramble, dark fruit, iron, granite, dried herbs, tar, blood, underbrush, some leather and reductive notes in the background. Good length, good acidic lift, good complexity.

Without 3-4 hours of air it's quite tannic and astringent in the long finish, with time it becomes smoky and volcanic -- certainly could use 5-7 years in the cellar, and will go for decades. Not quite forgiving enough with air to drink soon, would wait or consume with a powerful dish. Good value. 91-92 today, would expect 93+ with time.

  • Good, dark, black berries, bit of tar, taught, a bit closed and tight, but still nice delicate floral-berry nose. At Spago

  • Blind tasting. decanted some time. Very dark hue. Nice nose of blackcurrent, and blackchocolate, seductive approach. Perhaps some pepper behind. Mouth silky, fine and also long. A progessive core of black juice carries a delicate structure. The oak is perfectly intregrated. The style is elegant , feminine modern, and has some discretion. Like a pinot in a hot year ? Ready to drink, excellent.

  • Really nice wine out of the blocks. Lovely fragrance on the nose, deep pitched dark red fruit with nice florals and pepper spice. Good medium plus freshness to the fruit on the attack, the acidity doesn't overwhelm but is not shy. Has a piercing quality but also good finesse. Good medium weight and concentration. Hint of herbs and pepper toward the back. Graceful, medium finish not too powerful or tannic. I don't see the 2013 has been released yet, but may be worth adding a couple if the $60-70+ price of past vintages holds here.
