Beautiful Pinot, very round and smooth, lots of different red fruits and nicely integrated tannins. Some black pepper, love it. In great drinking time right now, but can be cellared for several more years.

At most medium ruby. Red cherry, savory and structural. Fine grained, building tannin that becomes a touch drying. Complexity revealed at the end of the bottle. Better in time. (93 Excellent wine)

SLDS June 2016 #2 (Mamak): Earth, stalk, roses and graphite - seems quite open and attractive on the nose. There palate is clean and bright with good acidity and restrained fruit. Very good now, but another 10 years would probably be no problem for this to improve over.

Not your typical fruit driven style of New Zealand Pinot Noir. Distinctive, complex Burgundian in style. Savoury, rich, dark forest floor notes with a handful of dark plums and licorice spice. Yum.

Pinotpalooza (Carriageworks, Redfern): wild ferment, sweet spice, slight strawberry and raspberry. Fruit is juicy and sweet on palate. Welcoming and pleasant, tannins are drying but the fruit persist, slight alcohol warmth intrudes. Okay.

Weekly tasting group RWP #353; New World against France in every flight (@ RW): In the bouquet a lot of new oak, red berries, cherries and green herbs. On the palate red and dark berries, good and pleasant acidity and sticky tannin. Wait another 3+ years. Beautiful wine.
