Brought this to a mate's place for dinner. Theme of the evening: Barolo from 2008 to 2012.
Brownish purple in colour. Bottle breathed for 8 hours before consumption. Some cherries on the nose, coupled with a slight touch of tobacco, aged leather, anise, coffee, and earth.
Did not have the complexity expected from a famed Barolo produced. Was told that this was a blended Barolo instead of a single vineyard.

The wife tested positive this week for SARS2, fortunately she is asymptomatic. So tonight we decided to check in on our smell and taste sense, also making sure we use them one last time before they potentially dissappear (hopefully not). Good news, we are both able to report back positively on this 2011 Barolo. This is one of the first bottles I bought in the >$30 range as a I was getting more into fine wine 3-4 years ago. The wine has a lighter, see-through color than I would have expected for a Barolo. Nose is all about flowers and lime. Tastes of red cherry, anise, and leather. Still plenty of accidity and medium tannins. I think this is still getting better, but no harm in popping the cork. It’s an entry level Barolo and an average vintage, but certainly recommendable.

Classic Barolo made from blended Nebbiolo fruit. Light garnet color with aromas of ripe berries, rose petals, mocha, toast and a hint of cloves. Forward pallet of ripe black cherry, tar, toasted coconut and coffee. A minty note on the finish. Firm tannins.

Ruby. Nose of rose, spice box, and dried herb. The 2011 Barolo offers open-knit, accessible aromatics but still throws elbows, with a bit more tannic structure than is typical for the vintage.

This is a very nice Barolo. Tannic and light but nice balance. Pairs nicely with mushrooms and steak. Nice smooth finish. Cherries. Nice flavor. Would highly recommend. For $39 this is a steal.

Served blind and had all the hallmark of nebbiolo with the lighter color, smoke, rose and thorns, herbs, a touch of tomato leaf and a wall of tannins on the palate. Always a pleasure to drink Barolo.

Smelled and tasted like Italy...but from where? The color was right for Nebbiolo, but not a lot else, which made a Sangiovese and Merlot blend my guess. With air, the wine shows more Nebbiolo character, though something less than conclusive. A fine wine nonetheless.

Smoke, vanilla and blueberries on the nose. Smoked wood is fairly dominant on the palate. Not bad, but the fruit appears too hidden behind the smokey/woody character of the wine.

Nose has spice, leather, licorice, dark little sweet berries, wet gras. Approchable with medium tannins that are well integrated with fruit of dark/red sweet berries, licorice, some cherry Tones, little dry. Good

I started drinking red wine a year ago, and have only tried Luciano Sandrone before, so this is my very first bottle of Ceretto, yet quite satisfying.
Luciano Sandrone claims that he prefers not to decant any Barolo wine, and hence I did not decant it too, just simply drank it right away.
At the very beginning, the smell of wood and oak is obvious, then slowly emerges signs of cherry.
Very soft and mild on the palate, not acidic at all, and quite silky and creamy, reminds me of vanilla and peppermint. A very nice wine overall.
Drank a second and third glass on the next day, the scent of pine becomes quite dominant. The second glass was not so different from the first one last night, but the third (after decanting for extra two hours) shows more of mineral, which reminds me of copper and soil, and is quite spicy, but the feeling of peppermint and pine still prevail. The finishing lasts for about 1 or 2 minutes, not as long as those from Luciano Sandrone, which can easily last for about 5 minutes or above).
Drink now - 2017.

Tasted at a free winetasting of the producer at Radrizzani's in Milan. Pleasant and ready-to-drink basic barolo from magnum with long life ahead but still round with baanced tannins and nice but not excess acidity

Still big and earthy but lots of elegance. Truffle earthy depth and very aromatic. This is my preffered style of barolo

Pale garnet, clear. Moderate aroma intensity showing some age: floral notes. Dry, medium bodied, lively acidity and medium+ astringent tannin. Flavorful: cherry, anise. Very savory. Long+ finish.

Quite a special bottle. Rose petals, earthiness and a hint of leather. Hits the right notes on the nose and on the palette. A pleasure.

Clear, pale brick red, fairly straight-forward nose, somewhat bright and spicy. Good, near-term stuff, but maybe a little too civilized.
