Burgundy BBQ (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Also very reductive, but some air would have made this easily accessible with orchard fruit clearly coming through in the background.

Summer BBQ (Chicago, IL): Hyper reduced on the nose and palate; very hard to get much of a read on this. Some fruit underneath all that reduction, but definitely not of the same richness and breadth as the Abbaye alongside.

Among the stand-out 2014s from PYCM that ushered in the ascension of St Aubin 1 ere into the ranks of Chassagne, this was the weakest. Clearly not the richness or complexity of the En Remilly and a bit more diluted. Plenty of pretty floral notes, lemon acid backbone, elegant delivery of a hint of burnt vanilla, lemon curd, and some tropical fruit notes. Drink now.

Almost 4 years since my last bottle of this. Still lots of reduction here. In looking at my prior note, it seems a little more ready/open now. In a good spot though it seems to be aging at a fairly slow pace so can drink now or hold.

Delicious. Outstanding nose full of funk, lime, smoke, and seashells. Solid palate with good acidity and salinity to balance out the ample citrus fruit. Good density. Long finish. Great showing.

Another disappointing showing. There a touch of chablis oyster shell here, but it's a bit soapy and there isn't the grip and energy that I expect of PYCM

Consumed over 2 days. Flinty nose, minerals and citrus. Absolutely rocking nose. Crisp and taut palate, salty mouth feel with lively acidity. Has the back of the palate tension and bite that works really well with food.

A beautiful wine to open now, as are many of the 2014 St Aubins. The Champlots is a bit higher and more citrus acid-backed than the En Remilly, but the difference does not in any detract from the pure pleasure that this well-balanced wine delivers. High notes of yellow/green citrus, with a nod to burnt caramel but not a Mersault style. Elegant weight and viscosity this never descends into New World oiliness, and a bit of wildflower, honey, burnt orange (tiny) and an ever so small bit of wild green all combine for a very nice experience now.

Plenty of reduction here. The fruits are of the citrus persuasion. It is direct, compact, dense and linear. Length is good and there's just a light suggestion of spice on the back-end.

Woodruff, mirabelle, pear, some vanilla, flint minerality and some sulfur in the nose. Complex yet fresh. The palate adds butter brioche, lemon balm and citrus notes. Also peach. Elegant and fresh, almost too tight at the moment. A touch of steel at first. Long. Excellent white burgundy, well approachable now but with lots of potential.

Restrained, elegant, I felt we weren't really getting an insight into this wine at this stage. Let it sleep for a few years. Le Banc was giving much more tonight, drink those instead while Champlots sleeps.

This is extraordinary St Aubin, blind I guessed great Chassagne: beautifully integrated oak, rich, round, eggy yeastiness in the nose. Lovely ripe fruit, leaning toward ripe pear, and grilled peach, with a lush long finish. Peak drinking now.

NR as no notes, remember this being lovely, enough acidity but not precise or mouthwatering (as often PYCM'S and 2014's in general can be), this was a bit softer and rounder than I was expecting but still enough lift / energy to be enjoyable... I think near term drinker

My goodness, another 2014 PYCM Saint Aubin that is cracking. This is a bit more reserved than Le Banc, but still quite enjoyable at present. More tension, not as juicy as Le Banc, this is the one to drink after all your Le Banc are gone.

PYCM really nailed 2014. This is another lovely wine. An attractive bouquet of pears, minerals, lemon zest and marine notes. This is accompanied by PYCM signature lifted flinty, struck match and spicy oak aromatics. There is also reduction on palate. Clean, crystalline and pure with lemons, pears, yellow apples and oyster shell. Lovely texture. Serious concentration and power for this level. A slightly saline, chalky long, dry finish. Delicious now, it'll be even better in three or four more years.

Wonderful purity of white peach and citrus fruit. It has some aniseed spice and so much rocky mineral action. There’s flesh coupled with nervosité and the whole package crackles with energy. The finish is long, dry and sappy.

Light greenish yellow. Reductive, lots of struck match. Decanted. Nose reveals lots of white floral, spice and some sweet white fruits. Seems to have shed some of its fat. Some roundness here and pleasant to drink. Not overly acidity nor oaky. There is some restraint of fruits here but still possesses some dry extracts on the finish that suggest future upside.

Plenty of struck match to the aroma. The fruit is ripe and peachy. There's a suggestion of aniseed and some mineral. A lick of fresh, lemon-like acidity punctuates the finish. Very tasty.

Decanted an hour and then re-chilled. Reductive nose blew off, leaving a relatively lean fruit profile of lemon, apple and some stoniness. The oak is pronounced, leaving a disjointed impression of lean fruit and heavy oak. Not too unpleasant, but not integrated yet. Try again in a couple years but it will never be excellent.

PnP then drunk over two evenings. Light yellow, with a green tinge, clear. Strongly reductive, so much that every pour, until day two, needed to breathe about 15-20 minutes before getting clean. After that, some ripe white fruit, with cold, herbal and rocky notes emerges. The palate is somewhat light, and only slowly does the acidity build up to give it a certain tension. There is also underlying mineral texture, but the wine is somewhat lacking on the midpalate. Good finish though, lemony, and with a light salinity. Not one of the best PYCM I have had.

Popped and poured. Shoot, was extremely excited for this wine as the BB was a QPR superstar so I assumed this wine would be a step up from that. Reductive at first, which blew off quickly, but then left the exact opposite type of Chardonnay I enjoy. Too opulent with excessive oak, banana, cream, butter, caramel, and not nearly enough of any type of acid or structure. More Rombauer and Aubert than Dauvissat and Fevre. I gave the next glass an hour and didn't notice any discernible change. This wine gives me pause about entertaining the thought of buying more WB. Maybe I need to stick to Chablis! 87pts.

Tasted during a WA matter of taste walkabout, so only a brief impression. From Magnum. This is in between the richer Baudines and leaner Ancegnieres. Aromas of apple, lemon, with a mineral touch. A nice series of Chards indeed today from Pierre-Yves Colin.

Pierre Yves Colin-Morey, Saint Aubin 1er Cru, Les Champlots 2014 - this is a HUGE step from the other St Aubin tasted tonight. It shows off an explosion of burnt match, coffee, white truffle character evolving into ripe fruits & flowers. A beautiful huge, rounded palate, that its in extremely another level of the others, weight, freshness, another level. I would buy everything I could! Perfect

So much reduction upon opening that this needed quite a bit of air. Once it got some air it was really nice. Half the bottle was saved and it was better on night two. I'd recommend holding (or at least decanting). 91+

Short note only: layers of fruits, mineral notes and herbs. Still so young and in development, but I’m intrigued to find out how it will develop in the next 5-10 years as it has a great potential.

It is a waxed-top bottle. Pale yellow colour. Floral, citrus nose with good deal of acidity and there is a not too pleasant alcoholic bite. It is unable to show the complexity and secondary nose. Light in body but with a very decent finish.
