2005 Vintage. On the nose I get pineapple splice ice cream brûlée with coconut. Restrained palate of dried apricots, some marmalade and orange peel. Very light finish and not an explosive wine, needed some air to open up.

Gold center, yellow rim. Nose of orange peel lychee coconut honey apricot. banana. Floral notes overall. Smooth and quite sweet, candied orange. Long jammy finish. Lacks some complexity and balance. Still some acidity but fading. Try sitting in the glass a few minutes seems to evolve.

Gold center, yellow rim with some signs of age. Barley sugar, sweet, touch of pear drops, some ripe banana, botrytis. Smooth and sweet, barley sugar and botrytis, good acidity (but reaching a peak), candied oranges, hard candy, a little spicy. Very serviceable Sauterne, good sweetness and Botrytis, drinks well now with modest acidity left.

On the fresh, bright, floral side of the style range, with a lean to orange and apricots over tropical notes, there is plenty of honey drizzled on the fruit. But it lacks the weight and density you find in the better wines from the vintage.

Out of 375ml. Great balance with some tropical fruits like papaya and mango combined with a nice minerality that keeps the mouth feel crisp and refreshing. This is incredibly drinkable and if i had one knock for the wine I would say that the finish is shorter than other great Sauternes I have had.

Second of two bottles; the first one was probably flawed in light of this bottle's performance. Not that it's shooting the lights out, but it's at least sturdy.
Nice spicy apricot, vanilla bean, orange marmalade, apple pie. Muted nose, medium-minus finish. Wouldn't buy again, but it's a welcome companion to Gorgonzola and a cigar tonight, and won't go unfinished.

Very deep gold. Orange marmalade and apricot. Rich, full bodied wine with long finish. However lacks acidity, with finish somewhat cloying. Enjoyable nonetheless. Enjoyed with both foie gras and blue cheese. 375 ml. Drink now - 2018.

First of two bottles. Disappointing. Like recent tasters, I'm getting cloying honey and noticeable heat. Also some Mott's apple juice. Finish is actually respectable, but doesn't carry much more than burning spice.
No score, since it's bad enough to suggest damage, but given the marked decline in CT sentiment lately, it could also just be time up.

From a 375. Lighter yellow-golden color; lighter nose with some peach, some alcoholic heat, thins out quickly; palate is full bodied, fresh, overly sweet at first, somewhat cloying, low acidity, fresh in the midpalate with a bit of peach, fades quickly into thinness; very short finish. This is drinkable and mildly refreshing, but that's pretty much the only positive things about this wine. A huge disappointment for a classified growth in a good year, even at a discounted price of $15/half. I'm glad this was my only one. 78 Day 2: Much less heat on the nose and palate, but very short throughout and lacking concentration on complexity, still a bit cloying. 80 2 weeks open: thinner nose, slight oxidation but less than I was expecting; palate has good sweetness, slightly oxidized, but still drinking well (as well as it did before, which wasn't great). A pass, no improvement. 2 months open: Surprisingly, this was still drinkable. The heat had actually disappeared entirely and this was pleasing, if very simple and short, and with very little perceptible oxidation. Still not worth purchasing at all, but this definitely is better now than 2 months ago. 83-84

A little unbalanced with too much sweetness/too low on acidity and a little alcoholic heat, but also rich fruit on the palate with papaya, safron and honey. Pretty much bitterness from Botrytis and also some chemical notes (aceton?) Overall a rather nice exprerience with some complexity but not outstanding. Three bottles left and I will consume them within a year or two.

Nowhere as close to my last tasting; acidity is pretty much non-existent and its like I'm just drinking sweet watered down honey water with apricot juice. Disappointing indeed considering how decent it was the first time around.

Very disappointed in this wine, especially given the status of this chateau. Not enough acidity to balance the sweetness, which is not even that pleasant.

I last tasted this wine one year ago. This current bottle was not as memorable as last year; I can only attribute that to the acidity being flat. The color is darkening compared to last year, and the nose is pear, lemon curd, baking spice, and honeysuckle. The texture is viscous, but the finish is a huge disappointment as a result of the brevity. The lack of acidity here means this is time to drink up while other 2005 Sauternes continue to improve.

Honeyed melons, apricots, and ripe bananas on the glass; not cloying at all. Spiced peaches, lightly grilled tropical fruits, and a touch of honey on the palate. Medium bodied with a short finish; not that acidic at all. Drinking very well right now.

Not sure where all the negative ratings are coming from. Perfectly serviceable Suternes. A little bit hot early on, but that heat blew off after about 30 min., faily light in weight and mouthfeel...but this is an excellent QPR, especially for a 1er cru.

Still definitely a baby, but perfectly suited the role we wanted it to play. Big robust, fruity (almost candy-like) desert wine. I've got other sauternais that I'm hoping to age, this one is fun and enjoyable now

An enjoyable drinker, lots of tropical fruits and very typical Sauternes. Well balanced, medium bodied. Some marzipane in the mouth, which I'm not a fan of, but a good drink nonetheless.

Overall light with nice acidic finish contributing to complexity. Moderate botrytis spice on bouquet and taste. With Crème Brulee, had a nice orange hint. Very good, great price. 89-90pts.

Light nose of pineapple, lychee and maybe dried banana. Nice mouth feel with similar characteristics on the tongue – yes, that is banana. It is hard to score sauternes under 90, and the only reason I am going to do so is because of the relatively light flavours and short finish – key word is relatively. Don’t get me wrong, this is still great stuff.

It's lighter in weight than other 2005 Sauternes I've had. Nice pineapple, banana and vinyl shower curtain on the nose. Palate follows the nose, with a medium length finish (25-30 sec.) From 750ml, only drank half, so will have to see how this progress over the next couple of days. Day 2-3: Still lighter than other '05 Sauternes, but gained a little weight and lost the shower curtain on the palate that was bothering me a little bit. Maybe a point hgher.

This was one one of seven (2005, 03 and 01 of of Suduiraut and 2005's of Rieussec, Doisy Vedrines, Rabaud Promis, de Malle) in a Sauternes blind tasting and was placed on last place.Very light on the nose in comparison with the rest and also died in the glass. Lacked acidity and fruit so is very sweet on the palate.

BORDEAUX 2005 / Sauternes tasted in 2006 (Bordeaux): Very yellow color brings forth exotic notes of litchis and kiwi, also salty with some caramel oak-derived notes. The palate is broad and flavorful and some nice acidity cuts through with a deep and fine finish. Best of the flight. 89-91+
