2005 Vintage. On the nose I get pineapple splice ice cream brûlée with coconut. Restrained palate of dried apricots, some marmalade and orange peel. Very light finish and not an explosive wine, needed some air to open up.

Gold center, yellow rim. Nose of orange peel lychee coconut honey apricot. banana. Floral notes overall. Smooth and quite sweet, candied orange. Long jammy finish. Lacks some complexity and balance. Still some acidity but fading. Try sitting in the glass a few minutes seems to evolve.

Gold center, yellow rim with some signs of age. Barley sugar, sweet, touch of pear drops, some ripe banana, botrytis. Smooth and sweet, barley sugar and botrytis, good acidity (but reaching a peak), candied oranges, hard candy, a little spicy. Very serviceable Sauterne, good sweetness and Botrytis, drinks well now with modest acidity left.

(Chateau Rabaud-Promis) #1; (also tasted on Episode #597; GV-95); COLOR-medium golden; NOSE-banana; pineapple juice; TASTE-this wine has outrageous balance; great acid on the back-end that holds the wine together, but the amazing banana, pineapple & mango play on the back-end; very tropical; this is just delicious and delicious wins; the polish and the length is amazing; the finish goes for days; for a Sauterne, this is an absolute value play; this brings enormous thunder; this wine will last 30-60 years; WS-90; GV-94+
(Chateau rabaud Promis) #1; COLOR-deep amber hue; NOSE-not what I expected; a very distinct caramel component; a gorgeous honey component on the back-end and some lime peel; a Crème Brule component; very gorgeous and complex; some apricot as well; TASTE-this is extremely good; great viscosity; huge density; beautiful banana peel, Creme Brule; melon components, great floral aspects; great weight; sugar cane on the mid-palate; just gorgeous and very well made; great depth; this is a Home Run and brings serious thunder; a gorgeous pairing w/ the Ginger Bread house; this is a very substantial Sauternes - it completely attacks your palate and doesn't let go; this is "Nectar-of-the-Gods" delicious; WS-90; GV-95

Nose of molasses and raisins. More raisins coming put on the palate, with notes of caramel on the palate and a good crispness. Very good.
