Apricot, honey. I can see some floral notes that others are reporting. Less sweet than I expected, and also a bit less acidity than I hoped to get. Would be nice with a soft cheese. I tried to pair with a spicy dish but it didn’t hold up. Tina: semi sweet, bordering on too high alcohol. She likes it and likes the age. 89 points, paid $25.

First chenin. Reminded me of port on the nose with fairly strong honey notes. Best served with soft cheese or fruity dessert. Had with goat cheese and strawberry shortcake. Little too sweet for me

Pale Amber in color Aromas of ripe fruit, honey Palate - stewed/bruised apple/pear/(banana) 13.5% Abv - Tendre - being off-dry Good mouth feel/texture/Med+ body Medium acidity, Medium + finish Would be a nice finish after dinner, not as a heavy dessert wine - but the perceived sweetness would work here with dessert. Or this would also be great with a nice spicy Asian inspired dish.

I agreed with another note that this was more advanced than expected. Upon pouring the color concerned me, as it looked like a badly pox'd burg - started a little funky too... half hour later it fleshed out amazingly. Round orchard fruits, slippery mouthfeel and a bit of florals. Very enjoyable - could use more acids to balance, but this was a very nice showing - though the advanced state is cause for concern.

Dyp gul farge. Moden og delvis oksidert nedfallsfrukt. Fullt utviklet. Smidig og glatt i munn med medium lang finish. Kunne hatt mer nerve og eleganse. Men personlig er jeg ikke helt komfortabel med hele uttrykket her.

fresh as a daisy. although i have not eaten too many daisies. years to go on this one. excellent. no wooliness but recently chenin blancs from Vouvray region of Loire seem to be more or less deficient in this category. not sure this applies as much to Montlouis

Delicious... Loads of ripe, bruised apple and pear and, being off-dry, it carries a full texture, reminiscent of vanilla cream biscuit. Good acidity carrying a long finish.

Pear, melon and a bit of cucumber sit within a demi-sec matrix, making for an interesting take on Loire Chenin. It does not have much of that wooly/waxy character so common to Montluis & Vouvray. The acids give a bit of a finishing zing. Overall this is one of the better young Chenins I have had the last few years.

Sweetness and oxidation masks the Chenin fruit. Surprisingly oxidised for such a young wine, premature oxidation seems to plague this producer. Or perhaps it is the style in which case...do not cellar.

Butter, apricot, pawpaw, starfruit, quite ripe. Gentle, fair bit of r.s., good acidity, supple, probably a little on the ripe/sugary end but still refreshing.

Clear and clean with wool and a touch of honey. Beautiful, rich but restrained. A touch of lemony acid. Dry with just a little sweetness. Lovely wine, just a baby. So good.

Birthday Dinner at Rockpool: White florals, lemon, some herb and honey - quite lifted and aromatic nose. The palate is finely balanced, with just a touch of sweetness in an off-dry style. Worked beautifully with a slightly spicy dish. Good length and great appeal even in its youth.

star fruit, creamed pawpaw, desiccated coconut, banana, creamy nose; spicy palate (ginger), faily ripe style!, nectarine, tropical flavours, good acidity, medium-full, off-dry, not heavy though, a richer and ripe style yet it still has some delicacy, chives. Good for a richer/riper style. Next night: less crass tropical, more pith/grapefruirt/lemon, better integration, spiced dark honey, apricot (some Bot?), gentle, round, well balanced sweetness with acidity. Very good

This is my third of the 2014 Chidaine wines, after Clos du Breuil and Les Argiles. The Tuffeaux is distinguished from those wines not so much by the sweetness -- indeed, this is barely off-dry -- but by the ripeness and overall late-harvest nature of this wine. The step up in richness is immediately apparent on the nose, which gives way to a rounder, more supple mouthfeel than either the Breuil or Argiles. While classified as sec tendre, this tastes (and finishes) quite dry, with only a hint of sweetness. It is not especially high in acidity, but is nevertheless quite fresh with a salty, minerally close. I'm not sure this is for the very long haul, but it's a very attractive wine.
