Perhaps I came to this without great expectations, but there is elegance in a fine-boned way. Just the nice side of being austere. Nose correct but delicate, certainly without excess of ripeness, even faintly cool/red fruited. Colour remains bright and of medium depth. Less of a rush to consume here than I imagined. As ever, a frequent reminder to be patient with 05 Bx even at this level.

Dark red. Nose is dark plum and dark berries, pencil lead. Palate: Dark berries, licorice, tobacco with some rubber boot bitterness on the back of my mouth. The tannin is surplus to requirements. A very enjoyable drink now but I wonder whether the wine should age further so the tannin can round out a bit.

THis had a very faint cork nose that blew off with air over 30 minutes. The wine still has excellent weight and structure on the palette to last a few more years. But I would not hold these too much longer, as they are drinking very well now

Medium+ red. Nose has pencil lead, soft red berry fruit - harmonious. On the palate this is light weight, slips easily across the palate with pleasant fruit, if a little watery. Fine tannin, a metallic edge and some caramel on the finish. Will try the rest of the bottle tomorrow.

There is sufficient fruit, and it is attractive, but it is still locked in battle with the structure; as with so many 2005 Bx. Give this plenty of air or time. Quite a compact, light-weight package, but none the worse for this.

I got a case of this wine as part of a larger lot at an auction. Having never heard of this winery before and never caring much for Pomerol wines, this was a very pleasant surprise!
Medium red/brick colour wit some amber at the rim showing its age. Full aromas of ripe black fruit, some plum and licorice and hints of laurel, mushrooms and wet earth. Medium-full bodied on the palate with silky integrated tannins, fresh fruit and a good acidity balance. The finish is long and fresh and echoes a lot of the initial aromas. Very gracefully matured and well integrated, I don’t expect this wine to improve. Drink now.
Considering that I valued this case at zero as part of the lot with other bottles I was bidding for, this must be the best value Bordeaux I’ve ever had. I often find Pomerol to lack depth and complexity, too much of a ‘soft’ wine. This one has both: silky smooth and a full bodied fruit core with a lot of complexity and life.

Decanted for an hour at this point. Wine in the glass shows only the slightest hint of bricking if you hold it just right. Red and black fruits with a little cedar and some nice earthy tones. Good structure. Sweet cherries on the nice finish. First bottle of six in the cellar, and these are ready to drink. At $27 en primeur pricing, this is a nice QPR Bdx.

Fully mature now, but can easily last for another five or so years. A definite dollop of sweaty saddle on the nose and the palate, but it integrates nicely with the wood and fruit to create a subtle complexity of flavors. Medium bodied, with some time and still providing a bit of structure, it is not quite as hedonistic as some Pomerols are, but doesn’t require strength of will to drink !

Enjoyed with Laurent over a special magret. Opened 3 hours prior to the meal and decanted 45 minutes. Needed time to reveal itself and improved as the meal went on. Restrained but loaded with finesse. Enjoy the last 3 over coming 2-3 years. Hard to see this improving much

Popped and poured. More integrated than last bottle n 2014. Nice nose of plums, blackberries and some funk. Smooth mid weight, nice, though not very long finish.

Gifted to us by R&D, this was terrific. Popped & poured and ready to go from the start with notes of red and black fruit, plum, earth and florals. Medium-bodied and nicely integrated with more dark fruit than red and a nice rustic edge.

Although not especially deep coloured or substantial, this wine shares the characteristic 2005 sternness. The fruit was lifted and plummy, but so tight that little developed. Rather hard on the palate at present this is likely to benefit from a further 5-10 years aging.

I wish that I could post a TN as positive as the others for this wine, but the bottle I had was good, but not more, and I like Bordeaux. It was a bit dry with not that much fruit or body, particularly for a Pomerol. Upom open the bottle I had high expectations -- it seemed as if it would turn out to be a very nice bottle from a good chateau in an excellent vintage. Alas, it was not meant to be. I have two more, and I will open them with the adage "There are no great wines, just great bottles" in mind.

I have been slowly drinking my 2005 Bordeauxs over the past year, and with the exception of this wine, I wished I had let them age for another 2-5 years. Finally there's an '05 that's not too closed, and that you can actually enjoy without decanting for hours. In this case, I decanted this bottle for a mere hour and it turned out great.

Very dark color with a purplish edge. Pretty tight nose, hints of black fruit. Cassis, blackberry and black cherry in spades with some brooding notes of tar. Good length. Great balance of old world-ness and extracted fruit. Tannins are soft enough to say drink me now. Amazing value at $27 USD (futures) especially for Pomerol.

Excellent bottle of Bordeaux. Decanted the first bottle and it was smooth. Diid not decant the second and it was also smooth. This wine while I believe will get better, is ready to drink right now. Tannis are still strong but are starting to melt away. Hints of tar, maybe tobacco, and lots of fruit. Berries. I am waiting on the other 4 I own and am looking forward to the day

This nice, value priced Pomerol is already open and drinking well. Medium bodied with soft textures, there is plenty of fresh dark cherries, earth, plum and chocolate to be a fun, easy to like Bordeaux to drink in its first decade of life.

Vegetal notes on the nose, yet distinctive hints of Bordeaux. With time, the vegetal aromas dissipate. Tannins still need time to integrate so if will age. Not much fruit, but overall a decent effort.

Decanted 3 hours, rebottled and consumed over 2 nights. Even after a 3 hour decant i wasn't overly impressed with this wine initially. There was a very nice floral nose with some dark fruit aromas. However, on the palate this was a bit lean and quite tannic. On day 2 it was a completely different wine. It had mellowed and fleshed out considerably. Lots of blueberry and dark cherry fuit with notes of tobacco, leather and graphite. Moderate finish with grippy tannins still showing. This was outstanding on the 2nd night at represents a strong QPR. If drinking now i would suggest at least an 8 hour decant. I am going to buy more and lay down for at least another 5 years. This should only improve over that time and beyond (90+ pts).

Decanted for 2 hours last night (1/2 the bottle). Nose and taste were at 90 point at that time. But revisited the next day after putting a wine preserver cork on the bottle.... What a delicious treat. Lots of dark cherry and tobacco with nice acidity. Enjoyed very much for an under $40 Pomerol. This has a few years to go, but it works with my palate now.

Enjoyed this for the Labor Day weekend...Delivers complex aromas of tobacco, espresso bean and ripe dark fruit. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins, very good fruit and a medium finish. Linking With Bordeaux (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): Purple core turning to red at the rim. Interesting mineral and leaf tones to the red berries on the nose. Fresh red berry fruit on the palate with firm sweet tannins make this quite drinkable. Utterly attractive yet somewhat soft, this is very seductive, especially on the finish.

Bordeaux Today (2005s & A Lone 2004) (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): Pure dark red with good density to the rim. The nose seems simple and closed at this point only offering some hint of berries. On the palate the fruit is dark and chunky with firm tannins and strong overall structure. Going simply off the structure in this wine I guessed it was a classified left banker in the $40-50 range. I was quite surprised that this was a Pomerol as I would expect more on the nose from that appellation but this wine could very well have been closed.

Nose starts on overripe red fruits before you get the game notes, lovely liquorice underneath and a layer of vanilla underneath, lovely to nose after 4 hours of decanting. The palate is smooth and velvety, lingers great on a touch of woodsmoke wrapped in a basket of red fruits with a great finish. Great wine !

Delicious. purple with ruby highlights on rim nice bing cherry, black raspberry and a little smokiness and anise, and something else I can't put my finger on (soy-earth-unami?) silky tannins and a strong finish. Classic and decidedly better than the 2000 vintage which if memory serves, I would rate the 4 bottles I've had somewhere between 87-89. Day two, held up very nicely (no cork in bottle) Will age very well IMO.

Very good wine but not quite ready. Tightly wound core of cherry, mineral and some herbal notes, some sharp tannins. Hold a few more years. 90+

Not quite ready…. Tannins unresolved and a little jagged. Another couple of years should do. Still won't be a world beater but should drink well for a Tuesday night.

17/20 * * * * ; Vintages : 42$
VISUEL: brique profond

- Garnet color and has flavours of raspberry - Comments on the bottle needing serious airing are very correct. Better next day. Tannins still very present but also lots of fruit.

Amazing notes of smoke, earth, and tobacco. Tannis still firm. Will keep my second bottle for many more years. Really nice Pomerol for the price.

This nice, value priced Pomerol is already open and drinking well. Medium bodied with soft textures, there is plenty of fresh dark cherries, earth, plum and chocolate to be a fun, easy to like Bordeaux to drink in its first decade of life.

fruit forward, sweet and savory with a smoky finish, a little disjointed though, this needs more time.

This should only improve over that time and beyond (90+ pts).

decanted for 4 hrs. enjoyed after a dinner out on a beautiful summer night with raspberries and chocolate cheese cake. One of the best Pomerols I've had.....and at a bargain price! Still lots of aging potential.

way too young, wasn't very interesting on day 1, showed much better on day 2, but still too young, the potential to give a 91-92 score within 5-10 years is there I think

there is a whole lot of Pomerol in this little bottle - closed compared to previous bottles but there is a lot of dark fruit, plums, minerals, and and stone ready to shine through - wait for this huge QPR

This reminds me of why I love Pomerol in the first place!!! Excellent QPR that stands up to bigger names like L'Eglise and Clinet IMHO!

Brilliant ruby red, nose is still dominated by oak followed by black cherry, raspberry, saddle leather, cassis and anise, palate is smooth, primary and in wonderful balance, finish is also smooth and lingers with flavors of red fruit, spice and wood
