Not sure where my notes on this have gone, but the bottle was a very positive experience. I was surprised to find a bit of barnyard on the nose, but I did not mind as it only made the wine more interesting. Fairly light and smooth, yet serious and with a grip. We did not pair with food this time, but I will open my next bottle with pizza or light meats. 90p

Dark berries, hint of barnyard, light bodied, high acidity and hardly any tannins. Would probably have called this as a beaujolais if it was given to me blind. Very nice.

Red fruited, leaning towards wild raspberries. Light tannin, acidity slightly below what I would expect from young Dolcetto. Quite lean. Nice all round wine for charcuterie or simple Italian dishes.

In der Nase feine rote Frucht, Walderdbeeren, etwas Kirsche, Mandel. Am Gaumen sehr schlank, deutlich säurebetont, auch hier helle, rote Frucht, praktisch kein Tannin. Eher eindimensional, gut zum Essen.

Visit to Giuseppe Rinaldi (Barolo, Piemonte, Italy): Ripe black and blue fruits with freshly-cut herbs. Black cherry on the palate, dark and brooding, uncharacteristic for Dolcetto but is Rinaldi's style. Juicy, ripe, exuberant. Drink now through 2019.

Tasting at Giuseppe Rinaldi (Barolo, Piedmont, Italy): From the Ravera vineyard. Nose has cherries and fresh cut herbs. Palate has black cherry and almost brooding fruit, which is surprising for a Dolcetto. Juicy with a long, fresh finish. One of the nicer Dolcettos on our Piedmont trip.

Excellent. Grande buvabilité.
La bouteille est finie à 2 sans qu'on s'en aperçoive.
