light golden color. Nose lightly smoky/light reduction. Palate oily texture, orange fruit acidity, light cream richness on body. Very nice especially for the tariff. 90 pts

2hr Audoze. Pours a medium straw yellow in the glass. Nose and palate are showing a bit oak heavy this time around with plenty of clove and allspice sitting atop sour lemon, bittersweet pineapple, passionfruit, golden crisp apples, and flinty minerals. Midpalate is full and round with great texture thanks to the oak and ripe tropical fruits. Racy acid comes through to sweep up the oaky mess and drive this to a medium finish that is all mineral and citrus. Nice, but I've enjoyed the previous bottles of this a bit more than this one.

Audozed for 3 hours. Pours a medium straw color in the glass. Nose and palate are expressive showing ripe/tart pineapple, bitter lemon, sweet red apples, vanilla and cloves, and a very distinct saline note that is at once chalky and creamy. Midpalate is very racy with bright acids and a sweet rush of pineapple gummy bears. Finish is medium with good spice, minerals and acid. It keeps driving at the end cutting through a fatty cheese board and delivering the goods for $11. Great QPR.

Pnp. Pours a medium deep straw yellow in the glass. Both the nose and palate are showing with high intensity and what seems to be a complete turnaround from the last bottle I had. Grannysmith apple, golden delicious apple, lemon zest, meyer lemon confit, yuzu, faint pineapple and dried apricot, chamomile, cloves, and salty chalk dominate showing crystalline purity among each note which is delineated by the gently racy acid. Plush midpalate texture with tart apple, lemon, and stoney minerals lead the way to a long, clean, clove and citrus laden finish. Seems to have gone through malo halfway or less, and the oak is undetectable at this point. This wine is on fire right now and such a great example of the appellation. QPR here is nothing short of mind boggling @ $11.

Pnp. Pours a light straw color in the glass. Nose and palate show a small amount of baby fat right now that has a ways to go before it sheds it all off and becomes well balanced. Toasty oak, marzipan, roasted cashews, meyer lemon, golden delicious apples, and a lovely briny/seashell mineral finish show big right now lacking elegance. Midpalate is round from the oak but has good acid to hep cut it back and the citrus comes ripping through to the salty finish that really makes this nice. Shows upside in the next few years. Really good for the money at $11 from Costco.

Aromas of seashells, Meyer lemon, kiwi, pear, pine nuts, hazelnuts, oatmeal, a touch of baking spice, or otherwise generic oak presence. Clean, zesty palate. The tech sheet that I found for this wine isn't particularly informative, but if I had to guess, I suspect this wine didn't go through full MLF because I felt a distinct "Warhead" like feel on the palate. However, the nose and palate still display substantial creaminess from the slight oak presence along with (presumed) sur lie aging. Well balanced and definitely fun to drink. For under $20, this is an exceptional value.

Pale citrine color. Chardonnay-lite nose, with aromas of green apple, some very mildly sweet oak. In the mouth this has quite a smooth texture, though with muddled flavors. There's minimal acidity and a faintly floral aftertaste as this rapidly disappears on the finish. Not a great value at $20/bottle. In total, this is more suitable for the Dauphin than the Queen.

Good value white burgundy. The other notes here cover the ground fairly well, though I'll add that it drinks better on the cold side, at least for my preferences, which are for citrus and acidity, when warmer it shows a more roundness and fullness, a bit much for my taste. Overall though quite good and will consider a rebuy. '14 white Burgs are very nice.

Picked this up on a recent visit to Empire wines, part of an extended summer road trip (and my first time to Empire); took a chance, and glad I did. For $23, this over-delivered across the board, with the wine continuing to develop throughout the meal, adding layers while also continually contrasting with the very fresh acids and soil characteristics. An easy re-buy. 13,0% abv., thru 2019. recommended
Slow-o 1hr, served non-blind.

Apple, lemon peel, vanilla and coconut. Leads to a long finish with bright acidity and balanced mineral notes. Good value. Paired well with fettuccine Alfredo.
