Pnp. Dark fruits. Meaty. Higher alcohol. Higher acidty. It’s a bit harsh. As a huge k vintners fan boy, this is probably my least favorite mck from 2019 back. This is from Clifton hill vineyard in the wahluke slope AVA and I think the switch to boushey with the 14 or 15 vintage was huge upgrade for this wine.

Gamey nose, adding notes of olive and asphalt. Charred red berries and black plums, faintly floral with some fresh herbs and a peppery spice through the finish. Nice acidity and weight, continues to drink well at eight years in. These 13s from Washington are holding up great.

1hr decant and agree it’s drinking perfect now. I think on my top syrah list I prefer saxum, Cayuse, Reynvaan in a similar bracket but k vintners often has a great QPR. A perfect match to lamb burgers over the holiday weekend

Decanted. Enjoyed several small glass over four hours, final glass plus on the second night. It continued to evolve across the evening. Fantastic nose of camp fire and cook cherries, bacon and a slightly brighter fruit - maybe underripe blueberry. Notes of brine, bakers cocoa, blackberry, dark cherry and soy on the palate, it finishes with a. lingering note of Fred licorice and spice. On night two there was a mineral quality that ran from start to finish.
Very approachable, it's drinking great.

I LOVE the nose on the 2013 MCK. Brambles, great candied fruit with olive tapenade. I'd go with the black raspberry description posted by another CT member instead of "candied" if it removes the negative image. I love the nose. Dark ruby. Starts with wonderful stems and brambles on top of great fruit. Finishes with meaty, olive fruit without being too briny. Tons of interest. Loads of flavor. More in-your-face than polish here. Love it. Sad that this was my last 2013. The fruit was from the Rocks area in 2014 I believe and has a different profile. Still good but the 2013 is right up my alley.

This was a nice interplay of bright but rich fruit (think black raspberry...I know, not a real fruit...) and savory Syrah elements (soy, beef jerky), but it wasn't so savory as to undermine the great fruit. Very tasty now, and I could see it getting a bit better with a year or two.

Opened, poured a small taste to wake it up and then left it for three hours. From the initial taste I'm not sure it needed that much time but by the time we enjoyed the first glasses it was singing. Opaque purple in the glass, slightly red at the rim, and brimming with deep blue and black fruits, lavender and holiday spice. Blackberries, rich coffee notes, pepper spice, bit of game. It's jammy, spicy, mouth coating, but not heavy... Great bottle, really tasty now but with a nice life ahead of it - I suspect it will continue to develop and drink well for the coming three to five years.

Fermented with natural yeasts. Macerated for 43 days with the skins. Aged for 22 months in French puncheons (30% new). 14% alcohol, 1 g/l residual sugar, 5,7 g/l acidity, pH 3,97.
Quite translucent and slightly purple ruby red color. Very ripe and fruit-forward nose with rich aromas of sweet blackberries along with lighter nuances of blackcurrants, some licorice, a little bit of plum jam and a hint of stemmy greenness, suggesting whole bunch fermentation. Mostly about rich, opulent fruit flavors with pretty little of that peppery and meaty Syrah character. The wine is smooth, very fruit-forward and so ripe it is almost sweet on the palate with moderately full body. There are succulent flavors of very ripe blackberries, some strawberry jam, a little bit of blackcurrant-flavored wine gum candies, a hint of stemmy greenness and a touch of sappy, stemmy greenness. The wine feels quite balanced with its moderate acidity and firm medium tannins. The finish is rich, lively and very ripe with quite long and opulent fruit flavors of ripe blackcurrants, blackberry jam, some plum compote, a little bit of tannic grip and a hint of blood.
A very rich and really fruit-forward Syrah that doesn't come across as excessively big and cumbersome, but instead manages to retain some sense of sophistication. Overall the wine is very ripe and obviously much more about supple fruit flavors than those classic meaty and peppery Syrah characteristics. As far as new world Syrah wines go, this is a pretty impressive effort from the fruitier end, and I like how this wine feels a bit less sweet and more savory than K Vintners's Milbrandt Syrah, but still I would've welcomed a bit more restraint and complexity. Now this wine just screams FRUIT at full volume. I hope that cellaring would grant this wine some further complexity - at least it feels like it is built for aging. Somewhat pricey at 38€.

Decanted with the Menu decanter and back into the bottle. Big bruiser of a wine...masses of black fruit, espresso, oak, and roasted meat. Very typical of the K style. Continued to open as it got more air, but this is ready to go now. Drink now - 2023+.

Absolutely delicious, a very pleasurable wine! It is even better and more complex than just four months ago. The aromatic profile showed more typical Syrah notes of bacon fat, hickory, and wild game, in addition to earthy spice and red fruit flavors (i.e., strawberry). Open and forward right out of the gates (it was decanted and consumed over 3-4 hours), it is sappy and super expressive. It doesn't quite have the depth of K Vintner's higher rated wines, but in terms of immediate pleasure and complexity, we are satisfied. Great now, though can certainly sit for a few years for sure.

Fantastic Washington Syrah. Get some if you can find it. Amazing QPR at release price, and worth some of the more inflated prices I have seen if you can find it up to $60-70. Following the advice of previous tasting notes, we decanted this for a couple of hours. First tastes on popping it gave no indication of what was to come. We tasted it every 1/2 hour or so and at about 2 hours it started to sing. By the time the last sips were taken at about hour 5 it was still evolving and blowing our minds.

Pop and pour at a Sushi restaurant. Strong nose of flowers (roses), plum and blackberries. Taste is similar - fruit forward at first, followed by some acidity and finishing with some very light baking cocoa flavors. Chocolate flavor was much less prominent than the last bottle I drank a few months ago. Tannins and acidity also a little greater than my last bottle (though still on the mid to light side overall). Nice long finish (leaving some crushed black pepper aftertaste) and definitely flavorful.

P&P though an elk head aerator. Big wine, lots of barrel notes and espresso, massive blackberry and plum fruit, some tobacco and vanilla. This is excellent right out of the bottle - the nose features dark fruits, forest floor, olive, and with time, chocolate, roasted herbs, and a touch of spice. It is seamless and smooth in the mouth, more and more chocolatey with time, followed by a nice, slightly gamey finish, with spice emerging with time. This can age a bit further, but it's so tasty now! I have yet to find something this good at $25.
Quick 30 minute decant after pour through an aerator. Color is deep garnet. Strong nose of flowers (roses), plum and baking chocolate. Taste is similar - fruit forward at first, followed by some acidity and finishing with very prominent chocolate flavors. If you love chocolate in your wine, this is the wine for you! I can see how it would be a party favorite. Pretty minimal tannins (mostly on the finish with the chocolate) and light acidity overall. Nice long finish (leaving some crushed black pepper aftertaste) and definitely flavorful. Velvety mouthfeel. Great QPR at around $32. 92-93

for the price I'd rather have a Melville Syrah or Australian Shiraz. Give it a good hour to breathe before drinking; my first glass had a nasty aftertaste but it mellowed out.
This has some charm but I think I prefer the Paso Robles style which is more brawny and expressive. This is a bit focused and linear, nothing over the top. The fruit feels more like red fruit - raspberry and strawberry which I don't typically associate with Syrah. Maybe this will evolve into something else with some bottle age, but possibly just not my cup of tea from a style perspective; the style may very well appeal to others though.

This is a big, dark inky Syrah. There is a lot of dark fruit, earth and spice in the flavors and a long spicy finish. There may not be a lot of layers going on but the big flavor profile is quite impressive. Really an excellent value.

Dark and impenetrable in the glass. Features concentrated notes of black fruit, graphite, & espresso. This bottle was not quite as good as what we had at Charles Smith's new tasting room in Seattle back in March. That one had a creamy, buttery note that this one was lacking. Bottle variation I suppose. Still, very good Syrah and an excellent QPR, although not in the 95 - 97 pt. range that WA is touting.

Not sure why other reviewers going gaga on this...I find it to be a good midweight Syrah with very pleasant berry , pepper, chocolate, aspects but thought it lacked complexity and persistence of finish...don't get me wrong...nice Syrah for the price but it's not a high scorer in my book..

Excellent Syrah. Ever changing nose of raspberries, blueberries and violets. Long long finish.

meaty, pencil lead, blackberry fruit. Very polished and focused.

for the price I'd rather have a Melville Syrah or Australian Shiraz.

Maybe this will evolve into something else with some bottle age, but possibly just not my cup of tea from a style perspective; the style may very well appeal to others though.

super solid syrah, especially at this price point. I noted less pencil lead on this one and more stewed plum fruit with tobacco. really great concentration and acidity. Great buy

This is a big, dark inky Syrah. There is a lot of dark fruit, earth and spice in the flavors and a long spicy finish. There may not be a lot of layers going on but the big flavor profile is quite impressive. Really an excellent value.

Quite surprised for how young this wine is. Has a nice extracted fruit/tar/earth palate. If this gets even better it will be amazing.

Hints of scorched earth initially flood the pallet, followed by a balanced flavor profile including soft buttery dark fruits and a long, savory finish. Incredible QPR.

Delicious. Nice savory nose and favors up front. Meaty with salinity. Great berry flavors. Great body. Decanted 1 1/2 hours, last glass at 2 1/2 hours. Still evolving and changing.
