The fruit is clearly fading by now but the wine still remains quite appealing with dark complexion, rose aromas and a touch of attractive bitterness on the finish. Still good but drink up any remaining bottles.

Colour still deep with very little bricking at the rim. Nose quite subdued with notes of dry brambly fruit with herb touches. More dry dark and brambly fruit on the quite intense full/medium bodied palate with rose petal overtones, mild garrique, some earthy secondary complexity and moderate acidity leading to a slightly porty firm finish with orange peel and liquorice notes. I think that I might have enjoyed this even more when the fruit was more primary but still good+.

Aroma: floral, herbal, garrigue, red berry and prune. Flavor: chocolate, red raspberry and cherry reduction sauce, spice and herbs (lavender & garrigue) becoming more pronounced as it opens up. Comment: a little heat at first but opened up quickly. This has aged well to become an elegant wine with some complexity.

My last bottle. Brought up to go with Sunday Night Turkish dinner. Not much snap left in the step anymore but plenty of smooth dark Mourvèdre love and neighborhood character. Really great with the lamb.

Nose of blackberries and prunes. Still deep colour with touch of white / orange / brown on rim. Palate on the big side of medium. Blackberries, leather, blood. Soft mouth feel balanced by some acid and still prominent tannins. Nice.

The pride of Cairanne right here. 60% Grenache 40% Morvedre. This was a beautiful bottle of wine. Big red fruits, some nice leather and spice. Great tannic structure and very well balanced. You could sneak this into a CDP tasting and come out with high marks. Delicious!

My excellent friend and hill climbing bike stud No Spit has come through with another wonderful Rhone. Good lord this boy can pick em! This one is big and complex with raspberry and blackberry fruit that is beautifully intertwined with a mouth and nose full of Provencal herbs, black pepper, meat, smoke, earth, tobacco and even some citrusy notes. Rich and full on the palate with a spicy, fruity, heady finish. I am just learning about southern Rhone wines but this has just got to be an example of a high quality CdR that can hang with the more acclaimed and expensive appellations. Outstanding!

I'm back in. Outstanding bottle of wine. Mr Big Stuff right here will give a lot of CDP's a run for their money.

Mossy, fruity, a bit austere, but quite good. Would buy again. Wemt well with leftover pizza.
