  • South facing upslope parcel in Vosne. Day 1, dark scented aromas, licorice, sandalwood, followed by spicy dark berries, taut and acidic mouth feel. Good active limestone minerality. Day 2, pomegranate and more red fruits, hint of licorice. Still with sky high acidity. More silkiness and more harmony on the palate though, and more enjoyable than day 1.

In this site the south exposure always ripens the grapes. So how to explain the acid profile ? Partly from the vintage, ripe but lean and cool; And also partly from the choice of an early picking date. Barely ripe tannins. Very good choice of light extraction.

It could improve further in a couple of years. Personnally I do not see dramatic improvement ahead, for the reason that chemically, acidity and barely ripe tannins do not improve with age.

  • Dark fruit. Some violet but a fair amount of reduction. Mineral. Nice red fruit notes came out over a few hours.

  • Lots of elegant black cherry and dark raspberry fruit mixed with violet, graphite-typie minerality, charcoal element, licorice and hedge grow today. Fine, almost lacy tannins in the mouth and not showing any real texture yet, the purity and elegance shines through. Try again in 8-10 years. Lots of potential. More lithe than the '06 rendition tasted several times.

  • Not very impressed. Ripe nose, somewhat alcoholic. On the palate, thin with a bitter finish. Possibly an off bottle?
