Decent. Fresh, red fruited and structurally balanced. Not going to set the world on fire at this stage. Probably has some upside from further development as it certainly has another 10 years in the tank- probably more.. A nice food wine and good expression of Sangiovese typicity.

Veldig fin drikkeopplevelse. God til lam.

You can´t go much wrong with 2012 Brunellos. While most of them are good, only few of them are great. This one is good. Simple but good. Standard Brunello. You will have forgottem him by the next day. If any remarkable item it is the pepper on the palate that stands out.

No propper notes. Light red, with hints of brown. Aromatic, cherries, strawberries, earthy, hints of leather and some flowers. Light body, medium acidity, fairly long, soft tannins.

This has put on some weight since last consumed 6 months ago. Lovely dark cherry fruit and lip smacking use of sweet sapid wood tones. Very good. Bone in strip steak, capellini, broccoli rabe at UVA.

Classic Brunello nose, cherry stone, raspberry and forest floor. Nice balance on the palate, bright red fruit balanced with the mineral acidity and tarry tannins. Warm earthy and spiced finish. I'm not sure whether it was the extra year in the bottle, but this was much better than the last time I tried this.

Leather, smoke, logon berry, farmyard on the nose. Pure, transparent and beautifully balanced on the palate. Finishing long, with distinctive (but not over-powering) smoky oak character. Classic, balanced and lovely. Secondary character coming through - everything in place.

Nice expression of Brunello with bright cherry acidity, leading into sweet tobacco and ripe fruit on the palate. Has a nice, long finish that has hints of herbs and black licorice. Paired beautifully with a red sauce dish that had meat w/ cloves. Tannins are already well integrated, but this will still probably improve for a number of years to come.

Two bottles off restaurant list, pnp. A dark ruby in the glass, red fruit, wood spices, elevated acidity. This vintage of Col d’Orcia comes across as traditional in style. Worked much better with the steak then on its own when it lacked a bit of body, and the acidity was abit out of balance. With meat 90, on its own 88

There is something fishy about this wine. I remember so well when I had the 2011 vintage at a restaurant and me and my friend both thought that it might be corked because of a subtle damp cellar note. The sommelier said it was ok but we ordered another bottle and there was the same thing. An earthy/damp cellar aspect that didn't feel so pleasant. We accepted that it was the style of this wine. But now, 1,5 years later, I popped a half bottle of the 2012 vintage and guess what? Yes, there is a damp cellar/chemical note once again in the smell and taste. Otherwise firm tannins and good acidity, some red fruit and decent structure. I just leave this note without scoring.

Wonderful, but one for the cellar. Plenty of tannin, a bit of remaining reduction, but an absolutely lovely expression of the type. Minerality with a bit of cassis; we’ll be cellaring some for a pleasant future.

Garnet in color may foo you at first, but this baby is packed with some punch. Nose of strawberry and baking spice, with dried flowers. Raisin, cherry and tobacco are dominant. Firm tannins with abundant acidity. An enjoyable and elegant Brunello that is good now but will improve well over the next 5-10 years. 92

Bouquet shows a lot of blurry cherries and plums. On top comes a little tobacco, green tea, coriander, walnut and earth, with a slight coffee aroma.
Palate shows of medium+ density with an enormous elegance. High aroma density paired with dense and structure giving tannins. Extremely balanced acidity.
Long finish, with coriander and mint aroma.

Score: 94 / 100 (95+ with further cellaring)
Price: 29 €
Drink: now – 2030
Conclusion:
“Great, this is exactly how I love my Brunello – elegant and with some structured power in the core.
Give it time to breath, at least 3 hours and then begin to enjoy this beautiful wine, as at first it might come a little closed in the bouquet and on the palate.
I can’t imagine how the big riserva and cru wine from this vinery might taste, but I guess I’ll have to, as the price here is really amazing. I’ll let you know.”

Ripe and almost kirsch-y nose. Super-ripe strawberry, dried cherry, plum, dusty soil, dried herbs, garrigue, tobacco, menthol and some oak spice. Smells a lot like southern Rhône to me.
Medium(+) bodied with medium(+) tannins and medium acidity. Warm and ripe mouthfeel. Very earthy flavor profile with lots of dried fruit and garrigue spice coming through. Good concentration to the fruit and it has structure for long aging. I think this wine will be a lot more fun with five more years under the cork.
One of the bigger estates in the denomination and located in very south. Style-wise very representative of the wines from Sant Angelo and delivers good QPR in good vintages as this one.

A bit of of a bumpy ride, this, with a blend of modern meets rusticity. Earthy, ripe cherry, firm tannins. Not sure it's got the acidic build to go the distance, so wait a year and drink away. A decent weeknight bottle with avg(-) complexity, med(-) finish.
