tasted side by side the '15. lighter in color than the '15 nose - woodsy. bit of mushroom material mouth - elegant and refined. the fruit is present but unlike the bolder, in-your-face '15, here it's more of a suggestion. this comes across to me as more of an infusion, a steeped tea, if you will. Quite classic I think, and though it may be an obscure reference, I'd say it's more of a friendly wine. Really pays homage to what a good Burgundy prototypically can be. having said that I think the '15 would have more fans, Mais pas moi.

This is initially rather oaky, with pretty sweet cherry fruit behind. After a while the oak blows off a bit and the nose is gorgeous: profound cherries and strawberries, some minerality. Luscious mid-weight stone fruit flavours on the palate. Strong peach flavour here - unusual for pinot! Concentrated, rich-textured with robust acidity and lots of fine tannin. The oak is still there but I have zero doubt it will integrate. This is really good. Serious for a village wine, and perfectly balanced so many years ahead of it. And most importantly, absolutely delicious.

I’ve found I haven’t enjoyed village level wines except for chambolle and volnay…and this wine makes that clearer for me. My second bottle of this 2014 and it was just as good if not better than the last. Always a fan of lignier but this was super enjoyable and as I previously commented…punches way above its weight.

Clearly punches above it’s weight. This was more nuanced and delicious than a 1er from bertheau from 2014. Tastes of strawberries, mid weight and with a decent finish for its village status. Not going to change your life but very enjoyable and yet another example of lignier’s prowess across all levels.

Brought this bottle back from Burgundy in my suitcase (from Mes Bourgognes) in 2017. It is a very lovely wine, if perhaps not that profound. I love the style, though, and it is very classic Chambolle.

Superbe nez de sous-bois et de fraises des champs mûres, côté fumé, très charmeur. La bouche étonne avec un petit côté tendre, presque sucré. C’est pas très tendu, mais élégant et très savoureux. Vraiment un très beau villages. 91-92 pts

The nose showed spiced red berries, sweet herbs, dusty spices and minerals. It was intensely fruity, in a youthful way, yet also compact. On the palate, I found tart wild berry in an energetic, almost juicy expression that saturated the palate with sour cherry. The finish was long and cheek-puckering with a mix of acid and tannin.

Dégustation de rêve au Domaine Hubert Lignier: Au domaine. Ça commence fort avec ce joli nez de framboises, floral, très charmeur. Un très beau vin élégant, très typé Chambolle, très fin. 91-92

Consistent with my previous note. These wines have an aromatic je ne sais quoi.

Decanted for 2 hours before tasting. Pretty; slightly round. Still evolving but approachable now. Mid body, mid+ acid, 13%
