My gift bottle for completing the 2023 Marathon du Medoc. Surprisingly lovely. No always been a Beaumont fan but this was proper Bordeaux where everything is in moderation and in the best sense. First sniff - ah: a grown up wine; this really is lovely. Leafy and blackcurrant nose, with a touch of wood in the background. Medium bodied and with a balance throughout and a proper adult savoury finish that Bordeaux does so well. Not much complexity but it's straight, undemanding and actually rather charming. Good value.

Oak and soft fruit aroma with a back hint of spice, more spice comes through in the taste, a bit harsh and not so much fruit coming through initially. As it opens up its softened and fruit has come forward and good tannins, grippy and tasty. Toast with the oak

From a vintage I'm particularly fond of for values amongst the Cru Bourgeois and Petit Chateaux. Medium ruby as it sits in the glass. The nose is very typical with plenty of ripe blackcurrant, dark plum, blackberry and forest floor along with a touch of tobacco leaf and menthol. The palate is quite fresh, medium bodied with decent, ripe fruit concentration and a little complexity. It finishes a touch too clipped and muddled for me to really get behind it but it will appeal to old-school left bank fans. Drinking well now but will keep for another 5+ years.

This is a fairly rich, ripe and modern Beaumont. I found that it lacked rigor, and my wife took a strong dislike to it, she likes her claret leaner and more tannic than this. I am not confident that aging will improve it. Perhaps for lovers of new world Cabernet.

2015 Château Beaumont was minty, expressive and evolving. The developing Cru Bourgeois was clear and medium ruby in colour without any sediments. Freshly uncorked, aromas of blackberry, ripe red plum, eucalyptus and vanilla jumped out of the glass. With two hours of in-bottle aeration, notes of earth, tobacco and black pepper spices were revealed.
The mouthfeel was dry and medium-bodied, complemented with a medium level of acidity and a medium-high level of sandy tannin. Flavours of cassis, blackcurrant and raspberry led to smoke and black tea in a medium, gently spiced finish. The empty bottle weighed 505 grams. The alcohol level was at 14%.
Beaumont caught my attention in the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux (UGCB) tasting a few years ago, marked by its early drinkability and a sense of minty freshness. Beaumont was inexpensive and approachable, defying the stereotype often attached to UGCB wines. It was perfect with causal dinner with beef brisket and roasted pork.
From the information on the winery website, the blend is composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. The wine is matured for twelve to fourteen months in French oak barrels, of which one-thrid is renewed each year.

Professional pundits seem to be swooning over Chateau Beaumont these days. This is a solid effort and will be a crowd pleaser, but it's not that remarkable - it's a well made claret for the money, ticking all the right boxes; cedar, eucalyptus, plum and herbs. Worth seeking out for its value for money. Ready now, but no hurry.

Drunk over two days. Initially, I wasn't impressed with this. Solid ruby. Solid nose of red fruit and mineral. Approachable, easy to drink red with some oaky overtones and friendly fruit. A decent value for early drinking. Better on day two, with some cocoa notes and more complexity coming out. 4-11-15-8: 88/100.

Opened for a glass and then sealed for 4 nights. It was definitely better for the wait but was probably a day, even 2 over when I finished it even though the bottle was 3/4 full when re corked with vacuvin. Good value but probably needs a 2 hour decant minimum
Blood red; spicy, cassis. Black olive & smoky overtones; some tannins remain, dark fruits, marked acidity; an awkwardness on the finish. Better with food. Needs a little more time.

Tastier than in the past, forward and refreshing with a tasty nose; dry and balanced and of the h-m type. Classy w grilled meats; see my previous notes, but also see what kclark said, and I believe I know what he means by 'confected'. Nose perhaps a little confected: sweet and sharp red fruits, blueberries and some candied red fruits; a slightly abrasive peppery back of the nose; maybe some dried raspberry. Some slightly sour red fruits to taste - blackberries and perhaps sweeter damsons. Dry without being noticeably tannic.

Couple of months after the last one, similarly classic haut-medoc style and initial presentation, serious, no grape accents, bracing and refreshing and tasty, with dry and complex fruit, and this bottle (we had it with charcoal-grilled meats, chicken and lamb) seemed faintly vegetally in the aftertaste, not objectionable but not like the greats which have zero vegetal. Leather and maybe graphite and earth. My wife said it flooded in to fully complement the deep sour meaty of bbq chicken (salt only, nothing else; high-quality, Empire). What a pairing. Only half cab; I misimplied in my previous comment, sorry.

Classic haut-medoc, austere, even severe, asking for serious food (we had roasted potatos w pesto and all was heavenly). If you are unfamiliar with dry serious bordeaux of the type, no fruit per se, deep nose comprising the usual earth and turned-over log and tobacco and leather and graphite in a mild blend, this may disappoint, or even if you are an aficionado of fruitier biggies from California or Latin America. I could drink only this for life, I say while drinking it anyway, including w good bread and oil. But there is a whole world of lighter and plainer and even spicier or more acid food this is wholly unsuited for. Have with roasted meats or conceivably roasted & sauced vegetables. Some would claim that this restraint and subtlety is how cabernet is supposed to be treated.

Lovely translucent deep burgundy; somehow light while still being deep of colour. A savoury nose initially - lamb cooking in its fat - then sharp pepper and some dustier spices. There is fruit on the nose but it's difficult to pinpoint at the moment - more red than black, I think. Perhaps some liquorice. Sweeter fruits start to come through on the nose, before becoming more savoury again. Intriguing. Mix of red fruits and blackberries to taste. Secure tannins. Sweet fruit penetrates at times, but then gives way to more savoury notes and some sourness on the finish. Not especially complex, but seems to have promise.

This was quite sour until it got a lot of air, and then was mostly oak juice. Was not very pleasant sipping on its own and I didn't finish my second glass. One of the poorest Bordeaux's I've had in the past year. To contextualise that, from a half bottle bought as cross sampling of all half bottles from a retailer, would not normally spend so little on a Bordeaux.

THis is an underrated Bordeaux reading other ratings. In a blind tasting i would likely put the price a bit higher. It has a nice fruity body with a silky finish of red fruit with good balance and much more elegance expected of the price but it it is an excellent vintage. A nice one i would happily buy again.

Rich, dark, plummy fruit on the nose. Very smooth in the mouth; just a hint of grip on the finish. Again, those dark fruits on the palate, but overall pretty simple. Very dry; lacks the sweetness of fruit that would make the wine more enticing and enjoyable. Unbalanced. Seems to lack the structure to really pull you in and the acidity to impart freshness. Perfectly drinkable but not terribly memorable. Having said all of that, it's still pretty good value and already into its drinking window. Not sure it's built for the long haul.

Bought for about 12e at the local store of a French national supermarket chain; about the same price as best Wine-searcher Pro. Purple color; fragrant Bdx cab-dominant nose; very good mouthfeel, simple, no improvement with 24h. Bought as potential good value after enjoying some past vintages and seeing a number of good scores for this wine: Leve gave 86, but several others gave 88 or better (JR16, JCL, AG, Fals, CT (18 notes), WE92). Tasty, not delicious, not a re-buy, given the alternatives. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable- when considering quality, age, and price.

Tasted over three days. Austere bouquet, high-pitched and taut on the first day. The second and third days revealed a more interesting wine. The bouquet expressed Cabernet Sauvignon quite powerfully. Piercing and juicy mouthfeel, with good grip. It finishes somewhat linearly, though with noticeably high acid, and should become more expansive by 2020. It should hold through 2025. 89-90.
Closed nose: some blackberry, but quite light. Initially thin and insipid to start, but develops more body with time - tannins give way to some sour cherries and blackberries. Clearly needs more time.

Too juvenile but tasty nonetheless! Has aromas of charcoal, vanilla infused blackberries, plums and cassis. Its medium bodied solid and chunky charcoal infused black fruits palate has got good acidity. Ends mediumish and a bit tannic. 14%. This should be laid down for 3-5 years+. Needed 4-5 hours aeration.

Trying one early to get a sense before allowing this blend (50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot) to lay down for a few years. Allowed to aerate for 2hr, it's still obviously young and a little hot, but has promise. Deep Ruby, with medium intensity aromas of red cherry, raspberry and oak with a hint of vanilla. Medium/Full bodied, with lively red fruit flavor, fresh acid and firm but fine tannins. The finish is medium-plus, dense with fruit and acid.

Fine and enjoyable now. Equal express from cassis/herbaceous from Cab and supple red fruits and dark chocolate from Merlot with noticeable oakiness. Well made Cru Bourgeois at excellent price.

No detailed note: deeper fruits than previously - brooding. Needs more time.

Ripe fruit and some richness there. 100 hactares between Margaux and Saint Julien, in Cussac; and same owner as Beycheville. Same winemaking team. Working towards a high enviorment values. Its also surrounded by forest. Lots of structure and back bone to that. And domainated by Cabernet.

Such a fine Haut Medoc. And at a fair price, too. Really enjoyable.

Good honest bordo, good dried fruit and plum nose, saddle leather on the palate. This will last several years, but probably won't improve much as it softens.

Rubied; ultra friendly, plenty of bold ripe fruit; supple, plush, thick, rounded tannins; well-mannered finish, very long. Could be enjoyed now or drunk during next decade.

Forward, early drinking, medium bodied, lighter style of wine. With its bright, fresh, red berry personality, this is best to drink in its youth.

Union Des Grand Crus de Bordeaux Tasting of the 2015 Vintage, nose of red cherry, plum, and earth, same on the palate, medium body, lovely, rich fruit, tasty, simple, and a medium/long finish, worth searching out and enjoying the next eight years.

Fruity, solid, slightly overoaked, but with time believe will integrate better, rounded and drinking easy with a little bit of decanting.
