Dead ringer for a Volnay: framboise du bois aromas jump out of the glass and carry stay in the mouth throughout the very long and complex finish. Good tannins, very light in color, even after a week in the bottle (during which the wine did not decline in any way). Wish I had more!

I love Cloudy Bay’s Sauvignon Blanc but this was the first time trying their Pinot. The nose is ripe, almost shriveled, and laden with bottle-aged red fruit, decayed leaves, and touches of spice and forest floor. The palate is anything but. Earthy and minerally, with a spicy prick, firm texture, and Old World flavors that turn darker, earthier, and almost feral and oxidized with air. I’m impressed.

Red, medium intense color, some sediments in the bottle. Red fruit, red berries, some oak, meaty, abit buttery. Complex, cool fruit, good consentration. I enjoyed this very much!

No doubt it is a powerfull and spicy Pinot, but but at the same time it has so much elegance. In the nose it is coffee, caramel, vanilla, cedar, cherries and plums. The taste is cherries, raspberries, cream and dark chocolate

Brought this to a wine tasting at Chin Lee Restaurant last night.
Bright red in colour with lots of cherries and some oak on the nose.
On the palate the red berries (raspberries and strawberries) are very pronounced with fine and noticeable tannins. Good structure with a beautiful, memorable bouquet.
Has potential for further aging.

Not a wine to pop and pour. Begins lean, astringent, sour, and leathery, with hardly any fruit, lushness, or richness. But by day 3 of being open, the wine becomes dark, concentrated, rich, delicious, fruity, and silky. A wine that will punish those who drink it young and richly reward those who patiently age it for years.

From memory: ripe, generous, warm, open, fruity and spicy or herbal New World pinot! More raspberry and cherry rather than strawberry; darker than the average PN, with noticeable oak and a somewhat fiery finnish! Good, and better on the second day. If I had another bottle I would hold on to it for a year or two.

Robe rather paler than I expected. Opened well both on palate and nose. Silky soft and supple. Typical large berry and plum pinot flavors on palate. Hints of fading fruit and acid suggest the wine is past peak already. Nothing overly complex. Shortish finish. Not bad but not spectacular. Drink up. Now till end 2018. Would I buy again? Yes but not at this price level (USD $45). 5CC DCBA+Michael Bailes
Tasted at Tim Syrad's wine dinner - comparison of Cloudy Bay and Greywacke. Light ruby colour. Dry on the palate, with rich strawberries. Very good overall.

Lighter style ( compared to many California Pinot Noirs), ruby color, nose initially closed in (did not decant), with moderate flavors of red cherries and cranberries, mild but noticeable tannins, and moderate finish. To my palate, this wine could be mistaken for a moderate Oregon Pinot Noir of a lesser vintage than 2013 or 2014. Enjoyable but not remarkable. It may also be a bit young, and I don't have enough experience with New Zealand Pinot Noirs to know how it will evolve.

Weekly tasting group RWP #248: New Zealand (@ RW): Beautiful bouquet with dark berries like blackberries, cherries, herb and minerals. On the palate red and black berries, minerals, some earthy flavors, bell pepper, oak, good and juicy acidity and slightly sticky tannin. Really nice wine.

The best was last - trio of PN in Queensland, this was a late night drink to finish up what we bought before flying. And it was very very good. a ruby red with tinge of crimson enlivening its colour, the nose was fragrant, hint of rose, toast, honey, nuts and fruit. Palette was succulent 'green frog' - a young but fully approachable hopper of a chap, chased by lively notes of honeyed toast, apricot, peach, cherries, blackcurrant, jam. Different from Burg yet no less satisfying an expression of the grape. Nice structure gave the expression of flavours time and space to show. Finish again not as long as Old World but certainly a good end to great glass. To be sought out.

Drank this at Putien (Kitchener Road) with my family and 2 of my secondary class mates.
Purplish-brick red in colour. Classic NZ Pinot with notes of ripe cherries, fresh strawberries, raspberries, with fine chewy tannins.
A notch better than when i tasted this 4 years ago. Fully evolved now and ready for drinking.

Jason L brought to Audrey Claire. Nice raspberry note upon opening. Improved significantly with air over the course of a couple hours.

Nose is thick and heady. Pleasantly easy on the horizontal palate, though gluggy. Really, not lean.
