The best word to describe this wine is thin. It is what I thought when I poured the glass and what I was thinking during tasting. While the taste was pleasing, the wine had no depth or body. Thankful it was a gift. I will not be searching after this wine in the store.

Some Portuguese Reds: Rich ruby color. Smells of spicy red and black berry compote, scorched earth, savory herbs and spices. Juicy but bright, fleshy tannins and fresh acidity make for a vibrant, balanced wine. Black cherries and blackberries mix well with smoky herbs, charcoal, vanilla, coffee, some underlying mineral and rocky elements. Nice depth but an accessible wine. A blend of Aragonez, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional and Syrah. For the money, wow!

Color: Almost transparent purple. Nose: Red tart berries like raspberries, potpourri, a hint of cherries. Mouth: Quite light which is not a negative per se. There is an aroma like yoghurt ice-cream. A bit diluted. All in all quite simple and basic. Not bad at all though. Quite quaffable. The next day I also could smell cold bonfire and I liked it better overall. If it is less than 8$ buy it. In a less competitive market you may want to pay more.

Esporão Tasting (Proof - DC): Darker, juicier aromas than the Alandra. Berry compote, savory spices and earth. On the palate, juicy, fleshy, fun but showing some tannic structure and fresh acidity. Spicy dark fruit with a smoky finish – delicious with some charcuterie. Crazy value.

Clean tasting, good fruit with acid balancing nicely, light, drank easily, not much complexity, drank with fresh tuna and veggies, good value, might drink again.

I thought this was the best of my 4 bottles. A little age helps.

Spicy and tart red fruit with some stemmy bitterness. This might be a nice red to slightly chill. Decent for price.

Drinkable, but not very exciting. Was better with food than alone. Pretty good for a wine at this price.
