This was more interesting than it was delicious. I think the bottle was fine, but at first it was hard to tell if it was flawed bc there was a little bit of funk, but that blew off after a few minutes. I think it’s just past it’s prime. I didn’t love it...

Had for NYE. Was amazing! Honey everywhere. Textured, layered and gorgeous. Glorious finish. Not sure about drinking windows but was an incredible experience and in an amazing place. Where to find again?!?!??

Regular dinner group (By JvT @ Fitzgerald): Deep dark yellow. Special bouquet with minerals and marzipan. Reductive. On the palate grapefruit and marzipan, good acidity, some honey, good oak and an enormous length. Beautiful and very special wine.

From an excellent looking bottle, this wine had a deep yellow center with clear rims. The medium intensity nose showed lemons, apples, almond paste, and white stone.
As expected given it relatively light color, this wine needed 2+ hours to show its best. In the mouth it was medium bodied with nice richness leavened nicely by firm acidity. It had excellent length.
While I am sure this wine has been drinking well for a while, it is certainly still in the zone. That said, I see no reason to wait. Enjoy.

The Petrus Excuse (Eleven Madison Park): Served with New Zealand St. Pierre Poached Aiguillette with Saffron Fumet, Tomatoes and Tarragon. Wonderful white Burgundy, deep brassy in color with expansive delineation of chalky mineral soil streaking back and forth across the palate with frenzied energy. The bouquet combines great minerality with an alluring sweetness of candy corn and butterscotch.

Less attractive than previous bottles. Overshadowed by a great 1983 served along side.

Classic Corton Charlemagne in pristine condition. Subtle oak and lemon fruit, ripe and rich. Big wine.
