Tasted blind. Dr. Pepper, berry syrup, raisin, spicy nose with plenty of EtOH. Palate has berry confiture, chocolaty oak, succulent richness and density, almost too sugary seeming like cotton candy at times. Doesn't taste like Zin but reminds me in every other aspect of a Ridge late harvest Zinfandel.
I recall tasting a small vertical of these 5 years ago and being put off by the extreme ripeness, it seems that isn't changing.

Tasted blind. Oil paint, caramel, gentle crema, and mature fruit on a soulful nose. Silky body with good acidity. Earthy sweet hay, rich Italian crema, seamless texture, and mature fruit. Dynamic, comforting finish. My #1 of the night.

Surprisingly mature and elegant compared to last time I tried this. It started off with a rather dusty, dirty nose, but soon resolved to a more minerally aroma. Tannins and quite soft now, and the body is viscous, almost voluptuous. Great acidity and a notable salinity. Super ripe fruit, almost port-like and some seeming sweetness. I found this to be a most enjoyable wine and drinking beautifully right now.

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted non-blind over approx. 30 min. –
NOSE: very fruity with lots of peaty oak; some cherry licorice.
BODY: some medium-fine particulate matter present; dark garnet color of medium-deep depth; medium-full bodied.
TASTE: oaky; strong alcohol taste and sensation --- this is labeled at 14.5%, but it's probably closer to 40% abv --- hits like a shot of vodka, and tastes like a cheap blended whisky; low acid; not much tannin; this is one seriously one of the most disgusting non-flawed wines I've ever had: I might actually score this higher as a whisky than I do as a wine, if I were tasting blind; absolutely vile stuff. I feel like my score is too high on this one. Clearly past whatever peak it may have had.

Nose of raspberry, leather, camphor, with hints of tobacco. On the palate, still rich with red fruits, leather, tobacco, and hints of herbs. Still has a wonderful finish. Wish I had more, this will make very nice old bones.

we had a vast assortment of great dinner wines at the CT Texas offline from Janasse VV that I brought to pair with an assortment of Texas BBQed meats. The Priorat really held its own and provided more insight into how good Spanish wines can hold up with smoky meats. Lower ABV than many a Priorat but the blackberry and kirsch flavors along with some enjoyable greener notes of smoked drying tobacco leaf. Think Lucky Strike before its toasted a lot and rolled into filter less smokes. Some nice herbs de Provence and other peppery grilling spices. Creamy compared to Southern Rhone reds. Enjoyable finish.

White Burgundy, C9duP and Priorat (@ PC): In the bouquet as well as on the plate a lush wine with sweet spices and sweet licorice. Soft herbs and spices, good fresh acidity and tannin. Ready now and no real hurry.

The 2nd wine of Clos Erasmus, this is 55% Grenache, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Syrah. Wow, what a bruiser. Huge mineral-infused black fruit. The color is like the pit of despair. This is a massive, highly extracted wine with overt menthol, camphor, mint and mixed up in a black currant reduction sauce... but I loved it. It's like watching a skilled elephant do ballet well-- almost an optical illusion. A fun wine, I have no idea how it will age, but enjoy it now wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket while listening to heavy metal. 92-93 pts

This is sensational stuff. Agree with previous notes that there is a big wall of tannin, but it glides under the beautiful and rich fruit. Nose of blakberry, black cherry, sour cherry infused with smoky bacon and a touch of brown spice. Palate continues along the same lines with hints of licorice. A little heat, but not overpowering. Long, long finish. Rocking now, but this also has a future. One per year for the next five years should be a good program.

Last night at party at RJ's - no specific notes - but unbelievable nose - tons of fruit great balance and finish. Blew away the 2003 Mas Doix I paired it with for fun. Both still babies but this is drinking beautifully right now. I don't know if i'll be able to hold on to my other two.

Nose of sour cherry and black cherry and blackberry and an earthy/tar component. Substantial tannin from the moment it hits your tongue, but there's great ripeness and acid's right too. At first I was fooled by how approachable it is, but the tannin says maybe not and really it's actually still very closed. Strange combo, open and withheld, but there's a balance and structure here that promises something extraordinary in the future. It's much more concentrated than I first realized and this only became obvious after really focusing. I almost took it for granted. Very special wine. Total surprise. Note to self: don't try again until 2009. Still an infant.

Almost port like on the nose, but it's deceiving. Gives way to dark berries and a slight tartness.

CT Texas V - North Dallas Forty and then some; 5/3/2013-5/5/2013 (McKinney, North Dallas, TX): #9 Nose of hay, sage, red raspberry, camphor. On the palate sweet red cherry and raspberry, herbs, spice. Dry long finish. My guess - 2004 Clos Erasmus Priorat Laurel (I brought this wine, glad to ID it blind.) My #3 WOTF.
